Hello, Things could behave differently. Are you experiencing a bottleneck? SSDs are always better than HDDs in terms of performance. The vmdk file runs on one of those types of disks, so it should impact performance. What can affect performance in the data center? By the way, is the host where your vmdk resides full-flash, hybrid-flash, or fully mechanical? You can also manually configure Shares and Limit - IOPS or select a VM storage policy. The storage policies in certain storage environments determine how the virtual machine storage objects are provisioned and allocated within the storage resource to guarantee the required level of service. Hi all, I am trying to get Guest customization working reliably between vCenter 7.0.3 and ESXi 8.0U2 guest OS. I've followed all the advice from William Lam and 7/10 times, identical attempts at cloning with guest customizations will work as expected with the new VM getting a new host name, IP and connecting to the network. 3/10 times the guest customization fails, I've attached the entire /var/log/vmware-imc/toolsDeployPkg.txt from a failed attempt, but I believe the pertinent part is: DEBUG:imc.nested_esx_utils:['esxcli', 'network', 'ip', 'interface', 'list'] ERROR:root:(b'Connection failed: 503 Service Unavailable\n', 1) So when the guest customization script tries to run the "esxi network ip interface list" command, the esxi service is responding with a 503.  If I run the command manually afterwards it works fine, this leads me to believe that the most likely scenario is that the ESX services haven't finished initializing by the time the guest customization is being started? Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anyway to run commands on the guest os before the guest customization that I could leverage to fix this (sleep etc!)?
okay, thats weird
Why not buy a used 7820 on ebay, throw a couple hundred gigs of ram at it, you can get dual gold xeons on it if you like...and they're cheap

The only thread of interest was this one: vim.hostblockinfo.vmfsmapping I'm wondering if VMware makes this API publicly available and if I need some other way or a partnership with VMware to be able to use it? Thanks in advance for any help here!

Hello everyone, I am wondering if a VM with a virtual HDD disk will concretely behave differently according to its type of virtual disk, HDD, SSD or NVME ? What does it change for the VM ? Also, I'm curious to know, if that's not a secret, how those differences are implemented in VMWare Workstation or ESXI.   Have a nice day, Yours,   David MOSIEK. IT teacher
Still need to resolve this issue? I see that the question is very old
I fought this error for 2 hours!!! Thank you, it worked like a charm.

good afternoon! I have to do a college project on the cloud, I was thinking about talking about DR, but I don't know exactly what to say, can you help me?

Hello everyone, I am currently exploring the use of AI analytics in VMware environments and I am curious to know if there are any specific use cases that are particularly well-suited for this type of infrastructure. I have gone through some of the resources provided by VMware, such as the Enabling an AI-ready Infrastructure with VMware white paper, the vSphere AI/ML Solutions, and the AI & ML Deployment Guide, but I would like to hear from the community about their experiences and suggestions. Have you implemented AI analytics in your VMware environment? If so, what use cases have you found to be the most effective? Are there any challenges that you faced during the implementation process? What tools and solutions did you use to overcome these challenges? I am also interested in learning more about the VMware Explore 2022sessions related to AI and machine learning. If you have attended any of these sessions, please share your insights and takeaways. Thank you in advance for your input and suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you!

VM running linux guest os, I want to make vmdk inaccessible when its datastore goes offline, what happening now when datastore goes offline is that I/O opperations stopped on corresponding vmdk's but still can list the block disk using ls -alt inside the guest os.    any suggestions?
