Also should I just LEAVE the default settings for GE1? or are there any special settings (in addition to enabling HA at the Edge creation stage, and Setting the HA mode within each Edge)?

Good day, Another point that is not covered by the documentation is when installing an HA pair. Does the standby Edge unit needs activation? Or should I just create an Edge, assign it the correct parameters, and it would activate by itself once it's connected to the active Edge using GE1 on both units?

Good day, This is a simple question but one of the things bypassed (as usual) by VMware/VeloCloud: Where can I find the serial number? At our DC, we received two Edge 620n units. The box has the following strings on it: A string starting with TW-0GXYDH-xxxxx-xxx-xxxx. The boxes differed only in the last four digits A service Tag composed of 7 non-hex digits (numbers and letters) An express service code A MAC address A part number and revision number (in this case EDGE620-N and REV:A01) A DP/N (whatever this is) composed of the second component of the first string (0GXYDH) Is the Serial number written on the Edge itself (on its belly)?  According to the documentation, it should start with VC followed by some characters. Am I missing something here? Isn't it true that the last three digits of the S/N are used in identifying the initial WiFi SSID? (I know we have the non-WiFi version) Best regards, Talal

Good day, As I have explained before, we are migrating from a Cisco ISR/ASR based network to VMware SD-WAN edge based one. On the current Cisco routers (configured with static public IP addresses), we have terminated VPN tunnels (IKEv1 and 2) to some sites (customers and our own DC). Now we will have 620n Edges at our DC to a hub and spoke topology will be possible between branches and DC. However, we will still need to terminate the VPN tunnels FROM THE SAME AFOREMENTIONED IP ADDRESSES (which of course will be configured on the new Edges replacing the Cisco routers). This is critical because our customers are not exactly flexible and the downtime expected if we change the public IP addresses where these tunnels are terminated on our side (in case we terminate the tunnels on a Gateway). My question is, is it possible to create a tunnel towards a non SDWAN destination (another Cisco router/ASA for example) directly from the Edge without the need to use a Gateway?
Many Thanks @khirom  You've been most helpful

Good day, Due to short training period, I do not feel comfortable jumping to production instantly. I want to experiment with the SDWAN network (Edges, Orchestrator) virtually at home. Can this be done in GNS3? or is EVE-NG required for this? I am asking this because I have GNS3 already installed and running with Cisco images to test new work ideas before I implement them to production network. If GNS is supported, what are the image names required (just the image names)

Good day, Our network used to be composed of Cisco ISRs and switches (2960 L2 switches). The ISR routers would connect to the switches using trunks (dot 1q tagging) with sub-interfaces for LAN and WAN. Can this be done using an Edge (510)? I want to configure one physical port/interface to act as WAN with multiple sub-interfaces, each with its own VLAN/IP subnet. The LAN port would be configured similarly. Do I configure this under 'Profiles' or 'Segments' Are there things to pay attention to while con figuring routing? I need this because I plan to enable Type1 Standard HA: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-SD-WAN/5.2/VMware-SD-WAN-Administration-Guide/GUID-55289AFA-90F7-4AF9-946B-A8EDE0E32974.html#GUID-55289AFA-90F7-4AF9-946B-A8EDE0E32974 The Edge 510 has 4 ports. I have 2 WAN links (internet). My plan is to configure the Edge as follows: Port    GE1       HA link to standby Edge Port    GE2       LAN trunk, with multiple VLANs (as need per each branch's requirement) Port    GE3       WAN trunk, with two VLANs, one per ISP Port    GE4       DHCP-client WAN for initiation   Any ideas, or links to configuration materials / case studies, or other informative material?

Good day, We are migrating our network from Cisco ISR at the network edge to VMware SD-WAN (Edge 510 specifically). I use the Cisco ISR routers mainly for routing, DHCP server (with DHCP option 121 enabled), NAT, and as a VPN endpoint. At some branches, I use the Cisco ISR to reroute traffic intended for certain destinations to go through a certain route on the LAN side (without exiting through the WAN) because some customers provide their own VPN/WAN. Is this possible to replicate in an Edge? Can I perform such routing decisions?

Good day @khirom    Many thanks for your response. I have indeed asked the partner to enable this feature, which they did. Now I can see under 'Service Settings' --> 'Edge Management' --> 'Software and Firmware Images' that version 5.0.1.4 is the most up to date image supported, while 4.3.1 is set as the default. Should I change the default to 5.0.1.4? Are there any benefits from sticking with an older image?

Good day, This post may seem odd but so is my situation. Our company have just signed a contract with VMware, purchased some edges (510 and 610), got us a 2 day online training, and have just handed me the superuser account for our Orchestrator. I definitely do not feel confident I will be able to migrate our network from Cisco to VMware SD-WAN because I lack so much information I cannot imaging I will be able to pull this through. The first thing I did (in the absence of contact with the sales engineers and any idea what our contract says) was to log in to Orchestrator, create a new (dummy) edge (model 510) in an attempt to find out what software version we had in the contract so I could start reading documentation based on that particular version. Allas, Orchestrator shows a blank space at where the SW version should be since I have not activated the device of course. Is there a way to know what SW version am I allowed to use just by searching somewhere within Orchestrator? Or do I have to ask my colleagues to connect one Edge to the internet, activate it, and see what happens?   Best regards, Talal PS. Be prepared to see many such bizzare emails from now on.
