I'm trying to move a couple of old Windows VM's off of an old HP blade server that has AMD cpu's running Centos KVM hypervisor onto my newer HP rack server with ESXi. I took a windows system image backup and did all the config on the ESXi to be able to restrore it to a new VM but when I tried to do so I was hit with a Windows error message saying the system image was for AMD cpu's so can't be restored on an Intel cpu box. There are possibly other ways to do this, including using 3rd party apps such as Veeam, but I'd be very interested in anyone's ideas so that I don't have to reinstall these servers from scratch. Thank you!

Hi, Planning for HCI Solution for existing ERP Solution with SQL database instead of traditional hardware 3 tier setup. Need to get insight of overall architecture and features available.
I don't think so. I am using a 2 port router https://www.allhdd.com/cisco-isr4321-ax-k9-2-ports-router/ And it is working fine for me. Let me know if you still need any help.
Yes That's true I also recommend Hp Switch Hub. They work best and also you can buy them in less then 300 USD. I have been using HP J9028B https://www.allhdd.com/hp-j9028b-24-ports-ethernet-switch/ a...

I have been using HP J9028B https://www.allhdd.com/hp-j9028b-24-ports-ethernet-switch/ and have been using it for a long time now for almost 4 5 years. I purchased it in just 175 and now a days it is available in 125 USD.
is definitely your Switch Hubs issue. You will have to replace it. You can find a Switch hub for under 1000$. You can do your own research. I am using Cisco SRW224G4-K9 (https://www.allhdd.com/cisco-...

a few years ago I made a script that pulls up some of the information you want. If it can help you, I will send you the code and the different functions in private. This script makes 4 arrays. The 1st arrays gives the number of vmhost CPUs, the number of CPUs on the vms and gives 3 column with a CPU over-allocation ratio. I put 3 columns because some believe that a CPU with hypertreading is equivalent to 2 CPUs, others closer to reality believe that a CPU in hypertreading is equivalent to 1.5 CPUs and INTEL considered there is several years that a CPU with hypertreading enabled was the equivalent of 1.3 CPUs. The 2nd arrays does the same analysis but by ESXI The 3rd arrays provided by cluster the total memory of ESXI, the memory used by the vm and the memory still available The 4th arrays does the same analysis but by ESXI

Hi. I am trying to calculate what would be the actual power of a cluster in order to know the capacity it would have to host vms with a 6:1 ratio, but I can't find the equation. Could you please help me in indicating how to get this equation? Taking for example the following information Cluster # CPU Cores per CPU # Cores NumCpuCores CpuTotalGhz CpuUsageGhz CpuFreeGhz Ratio vCPU # Memory Total MemoryUsage Memory Free Testing 2 8 16 32 83.2 35.0 48.2 3.79:1 146.00 524.2 228.9 295.3

About sDRS. We have it on "manually" because we have some kind of intelligent Hybrid/Dynamic RAID Storage and we dont want that vSphere starts moving VMs around because for the SAN this would be new and Hot data which we would to avoid. So only vDRS make suggestions or create a E-Mail notification. Regards, Joerg

No... if you create a VM from Scratch its step 4 in the wizzard there you can specfy the Storage Policy of your choice. We always create VMs from a Template or better wie Clone a existing VM which is shutdown. Unfortunately all Datastore are displayed but the compatible ones are always on the top of the list. After testing everything it looks good, the only thing i couldn't find out is that as i create a new vm and choose the storage policy there are still all datastores shown in the table. I made the tags and everything correct but the filter is not hiding the datastores that are not compatible. They are also shown but with a remark that they are not compatible. Is there any possibility to hide those entrys?
