Hello, I'm running Fusion 3.1.2 on my MBAir (late 2010) with a hard disk that's partitioned like this: a) HFS+ as the Mac's partition b) NTFS as the Bootcamp partition for Windows 7 c) FAT as a partition to which both the Mac and Bootcamp (Windows ) have read and write access, so that I can read and write data from both Mac OS and Windows. I have installed VMWare's Fusion 3.1.2 on the HFS+ partition, it's running off its own (virtual) hard drive (OS is Windows 7). This is for those times that I want to use Windows programs while I'm on the Mac. (I know I could use the BootCamp partition for Fusion, but I don't want to mess with the VM's drivers on the BC partition). I have one shared folder which resides on the FAT partition. I can't save from any Office 2007 or Office 2010 program (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, ...) to the shared folder on the FAT partition. I *can* save from other programs to that folder (e.g. from Notepad). I can copy files from the VM's Windows desktop to that folder. I just can't save stuff from Office there. The error message is that the file already exists (even though it's a brand-new document that I haven't ever saved before.) This may be related to http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1031921&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=147640904&stateId=0 0 147642383, which states "Saving to a Fusion shared folder results in the error: <\\vmware-host>\Shared Folders\<filename> is currently in use". Unfortunately that article does not provide a satisfactory resolution (save to desktop and then copy to the shared folder on the FAT partition... which is not very good when I'm working on a document that I've opened from that folder). Is there any resolution? Why does this only affect files that Office intends to generate? Is there perhaps a less cumbersome workaround than the one mentioned above? Any reply would be much appreciated here. Thanks!
