Turned out that the size of my virtual disk must have been marginal, even tho the download did not complain of that. I increased the size of my virtual disk in VMware settings but it was not visible to my Mojave install until I re-partitioned from Mojave Disk Utility, then the new size was usable and the update install proceeded correctly. Yay.

I have Fusion Player 12.1.1 (17801503) running under Big Sur 11.4 Beta (20F5046g). with Personal Use Licence. I've installed Mojave 10.4.6 vm, and note that there is a Mojave security update available from Mojave System Preferences. I attempt to install and it gets around 700 - 900MB, around 1/2 way to 1.87GB, and consistently fails with error 'The Network Connection was lost'. When first starting the Download and Install, it starts at about 200MB and for the first while it seems to download quickly saying things like 9 minutes or 18 minutes left then starts mentioning hours or days left and finally fails. I've checked that I'm signed in to my Apple ID on the AppStore in Mojave. I currently have Firewall=off in both Mojave and the host Big Sur I've tried both Network Adapter settings 'Share with my Mac', and 'Autodetect' and they both seem to work fine accessing the Internet from Mojave Safari. Thx for any tips of what to try next.
Thx! I guess I would have liked to see the location choice somehow sooner in the process. I don't do vm creation often enough to remember from time to time.

VMware Fusion 3.1.1 (282344) Mac OS 10.6.4. I have a few vms on my boot drive and am running out of space. I want to create a new Win 7 vm on a different hard drive but cannot seem to find how to tell VMware to put it there. I know I could create it in the normal location on my boot drive and move it, but I don't have the GB's on the boot drive for that. How do I create the new vm on the new drive? Thx for any tips, Ken

I'm trying to set up a shared folder between MacOSX and Ubuntu 9.10. I've done the dance in Virtual Machine/Settings/Shared Folder and i see the folder there. I've enabled File Sharing for that folder in OSX. I've given my OSX user, System Group and also Everyone rw access. Where should the OSX folder be located, within my user or at the root level of the hd? Right now I have it at ~/Public/SharedVMWareUbuntu Where should I see this folder in Ubuntu? How do I access it? What have I missed. Thx for any tips, Ken

I just noticed the menubar item as well and looked everywhere with no luck for how to turn it off for the same reasons, I hardly ever run VMWare and I don't want to see the Finder menubar item all the time. I expected to find a setting in VMWare Fusion preferences, there should be a global preference there to never see it or only see it if VMWare Fusion is running if that is what you want. When accessing Virtual Machine/Settings, I expect settings specific to each VM.
