With the latest VMware Tools (12.3.0 - thanks for the tip, Technogeezer!) I was finally able to run IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, a DirectX 8 Windows aviation simulator, in a VMware Windows 11 x64 ARM (MacBook Pro M2 Max Host macOS Sonoma host) virtual machine.  The frame rates at 1920 x 1080 resolution are comparable to that in Parallels Desktop 19.0, however I cannot for the life of me get the USB Logitech joystick to connect.  In Parallels Desktop (and CrossOver 23.6.0) the joystick is recognised immediately once plugged in, and drivers are automatically installed by Windows to enable calibration.   In the Fusion virtual machine no matter which USB plug I try, either connected to an external display or to the MacBook Pro itself, the joystick isn't being shown in the Settings panel.  Has anyone had any luck with USB devices that weren't automatically recognised by the virtual machine, perhaps by modifying a Fusion configuration file?  Other USB accessories, such as external hard drives or DVD players, are listed and available once plugged in (although the external hard disk formatted in APFS doesn't display in File Explorer). In addition, shared folders are still not supported between my virtual machine and the macOS Sonoma host in Fusion 13.5.0.  Am I missing something?  Should I start again from scratch (the original Windows 11 ARM VM was created in the Tech Preview version).  And DirectX 12 support?  Wasn't that mentioned as a new feature in the release version made available today?  I'm also still missing a few hardware entries under System Devices.   Thanks for your help!
I solved this issue by adding the camera as a new device from the VMware Fusion settings panel. The camera became visible as an option once I'd installed it in the Windows virtual machine.

I currently have two Windows 11 x64 ARM virtual machines created with the same ISO installer, one of which correctly shows my MacBook Pro M2 Max camera, whereas the second does not.  I noted the driver includes usbvideo.sys, and so I right-clicked on its associated usbvideo.inf file in the affected machine and successfully installed the hardware but it's still not displaying in my device list, not even as a hidden item.  I've also tried reinstalling VMware Tools v12.3.0 to no effect.  Is there anything I can do to get the FaceTime camera recognised?

Thanks for your help! When first attempting to encrypt the internal drive I received a pop-up warning in Windows 11 that the CD/DVD drive needed to be disconnected.  However, this didn't solve my issue. I was finally able to encrypt via BitLocker by removing my MacBook from all external connections, such as the external monitor, power adapter and Logitech joystick, and repeatedly shutting down and restarting the Virtual Machine while trying again until I finally got past the first step.  Several restarts were required but my internal hard drive is now encrypted. The Logitech 3D Extreme joystick connected to my USB port, however, has never been recognised in the virtual machine, despite plugging it into all available USB connectors as well as through the external monitor.  Not sure why, but I noted that under Hardware Devices there is no listing for the joystick controller, which is recognised in my Parallels Desktop VM and installed automatically by Windows after the first plug-in.

I now have a problem report that I will forward. I also tried disconnecting my computer from the external display and joining a Teams meeting using only the built-in screen and microphone / speakers but the system still crashed.   I have a backup of the original Windows x64 ARM installation prior to installing MS Office 365 so I'll try to start again from scratch. Trying to move away from Parallels, at least on my work Bring Your Own Device machine, even if all of my games are crashing in VMware Fusion.

Wow Technogeezer, you sure are quick with your support!  Thanks so much for your help! Windows Version 22621.1992.230706-1158 clean installation ISO created from UUP dump I tried allowing Firewall access (Public and Private) in advance, since just as I was connecting a Windows pop-up appeared asking for permission to access external networks.  But even with permissions set before retrying, Teams attempted to connect (Connecting... was displayed when I tried to Join the session) before VMware crashed. Microsoft Teams Build 1.6.00.19860 ARM 64 17 July 2023 Audio Device was default, Video device was the USB Webcam configured as a camera in Fusion. I'll go ahead and repeat the error before forwarding an error report if I can (the option to send a report was displayed, along with Ignore, but I haven't tried yet).

I disconnected the MacBook Pro from my external monitor and power source, then rebooted the virtual machine and was able to successfully encrypt the system drive via BitLocker.

I've just downloaded and installed the release version of VMware Fusion 13.0 Pro but don't seem to have any 3D acceleration in my Windows 11 x64 ARM virtual machines with macOS 13 Ventura as the host (MacBook Pro M1 Max). I tried updating VMware Tools but the installer noted that no update was needed.  Many items in the hardware device list are still missing, however, and any games I try to load crash instantly.   Can anyone please advise on how to enable 3D graphics acceleration in the final release version of VMware Fusion 13 in Windows x64 11 ARM guest machines? Thanks for your help

You're not being dense, since 3D graphics acceleration is the most important feature all of us are anxiously awaiting.  Rumor has it that a production release of VMware Fusion 13 for macOS is imminent, and I've been checking this forum daily hoping that magic moment has finally arrived.  Without Boot Camp support and CrossOver performing miserably all we have besides UTM, which is also limited to 2D graphics, is Parallels Desktop, and I for one would love to move away from that option and switch to Fusion as soon as possible!

Stupid question #1 : do you have any AV utility scanning the file system where the VMs are located (if you do, stop it!) No And Stupid question #2: are the VMs stored in a folder that's under control of a cloud file sync utility - for example OneDrive, DropBox or iCloud Drive. If so, move it elsewhere. No And stupid question #3: How are you shutting down your Windows VM? When I checked VMware Fusion Preferences, the default option for "When closing a virtual machine" was "Suspend".  I changed this setting to "Shut Down" and hope that will help. Whenever I launch the VMware Fusion application, up to 5 PLIST files are copied to /Library/LaunchDaemons but they all disappear upon restarting.  I tried to make each of these "Read Only" ("Locked") but they were still removed and then restored when reopening the application.  Perhaps the fact that I'm currently running VMware Fusion in macOS Ventura Beta 6 has something to do with this irregularity. Another mistake I might have made was replacing the virtual machine with a backup file whenever I ran into problems with the Windows 11 x64 ARM system I was currently using, which sometimes resulted in a prompt to enter my TPM password when starting the VM. I tried adding a custom display resolution of 1512x982 using the CRU V1.5.1 utility but without success.  Still haven't found a solution so I'm running the Windows 11 VM when connected to my external display as much as possible. So far the Windows 11 VM I installed yesterday is holding up and I'll let you know if anything happens.   Thanks for your help!

Yes, I'd already had VMware configured for Full Disk Access in macOS. I've just deleted my Windows 11 VM and created a new one with the same ISO and will keep an eye on it before I go forward with personalisation or the installation of additional applications. One question : How do I set the display resolution to 1512 x 982 (default for the MacBook Pro 14")?

I was suddenly presented with the same problem this morning after several days of use, including the installation of Windows updates (Windows 11 x64 ARM Enterprise Release 22621.317.220719-1658). I tried to repair the Windows VM from the original ISO installation image without luck. I'd noted whenever launching VMware Fusion I received notification from macOS that login items had been added, but they disappeared after closing the program and re-added upon relaunch.  Also, after shutting down the Windows 11 VM it was recommended that I clean up the hard drive, with a significant amount of disk space being saved.

I apologise for the confusion, but I marked this issue as "answered" in my original thread, not because the problem has been resolved, but because VMware has stated the root cause lies with Apple and they're awaiting an update to macOS Big Sur.  As are all of us...I can confirm that the latest Beta 8 release did not resolve this issue with my MacBook Pro 16".
Sadly, I'm experiencing the same issue with macOS Big Sur Beta 8.
