I have the same exact issue. I have downloaded twice. When I run the installer it comes up with "Initializing VMWare Fusion" and the bar cycles back an forth for a couple seconds and then the window closes. After that there is a VMWare icon under application with the circle slash NO sysmbol on it and I get the same error the OP has. 2020 Mac Mini M1, 16gb RAM, Latest Sonoma public beta.
