Fusion 13.5 on macOS Sonoma M1Max From time to time I get a pop-up saying "VMware Fusion 13.app would like to access data from other apps." (see attached). It seems to happen some time after I start-up a VM, but I haven't figured out what, specifically, triggers it. Does anyone know what "other apps" it needs to access? "Allow" or "Don't Allow" don't seem to have any apparent affect. Even after clicking "allow", it still eventually comes back. Could this be related to the background item that's added every time Fusion is started?

The menu-bar-icon menu always shows all VMs as powered-off. In the attached screenshot Fedora 38 is up and running. If I click the entry, the controls that are available reflect the current state of the VM correctly, it's just the top-level status that's wrong.

Thanks for the info. Since posting, I tried it with Gnome and KDE and have similar problems with both, except no error message pops-up. I checked and found all the files I tried to drag into the VM in ~.cache/vmware/drag_and_drop/... with symlinks from /tmp/VMwareDnD/.... So, I'm not sure which piece of software to blame :-).

Hello, I have the Fusion 2023 Tech Preview running on an M1 Mac Studio with Ventura 13.5. The VM is Fedora 38 created with the Fusion 13 release, then upgraded to the tech preview. However, my problem happens on the release as well as the TP. When I try to drag and drop a file from the Mac Finder to the VM file manager, I get the error message in the attached screenshot. I have the open-vm-* packages installed. Copy and paste of plain text works as does shared folders. I should mention I'm using the Xfce desktop in the VM. I haven't found anything like this on the forums or in the "unofficial guides". When I try to drag a file out of the VM, the mouse stops at the border and the file drops on the VM desktop.
In retrospect, I should have tried a reboot first, that may have been all that was needed. I have your document, it's been a big help getting started. Thank you for all your work!

I'm having trouble creating new VMs from many, but not all distros. When I try to boot a new VM from an install or live iso, it goes straight to "Start PXE over IPv4". I had no trouble at all booting Fedora-Workstation-Live-aarch64-37-1.7.iso and alpine-standard-3.17.0-aarch64.iso. However, no other distro that I tried will work, including one that others report success with in another thread: kali-linux-2022.4-installer-arm64.iso or kali-linux-2022.4-live-arm64.iso. I verified the SHA256 checksums and I've tried many different settings but no luck, including those mentioned by @Technogeezer in the Kali thread. I don't know what I'm missing or doing wrong, any help would be appreciated. Mac Studio M1 Max, MacOS Ventura 13.1, VMware Fusion 13.0.0
