Hello, and thank you very much for responding. I am on Windows 7 I believe SP3. I did a clean installation, because I had Windows 7 on an ASUS computer, probably SP3 as well. I did a standalone migration, and it booted up fine the first time, but then when I rebooted it it would just sit at a blinking cursor. So that's a completely separate post, but that option looks like a lost cause. It's just that I had flash and other legacy stuff on the ASUS computer, and flash of course is not available anymore at least to my knowledge. Thanks again! I really appreciate the help.

Hello, the link is no good now.  Any other ways to solve the Vsock issue for Windows 7 x64?  I am also getting Host Guest drive issue.
Thank you so much that was the solution.  This was from an ASUS computer, I'm having some other issues but I'll post later on that

I successfully created the files from a PC standalone export to an external drive. I was able to install it in diffusion from there, but decided I wanted to run it from my SSD macOS. In short, I accidentally permanently deleted all other files except for the VMDK. I didn't think I needed them. But fusion 12 keeps requesting the VMX, or at least that's what websites are telling me. Do I just have to run the PC stand alone again!?

At the moment I could use assistance getting a lone VMDK file to install into fusion 12.   I was able to create a VMDK file with the software that pushes it from the PC to an external drive.  What I think I screwed up is I deleted all files except for the VMDK, because it appeared to be the only file needed.   So now, I keep trying to install it as part of fusion version 12, but it's like no matter what I do the software doesn't recognize it.  I had it up and running on fusion, but was going to move it from the external drive to my Mac laptop because of the SSD.

I have exact same message Mac Catalina and Fusion 12.0.0.0.  A post I found in this thread solved it.  Did you read GameProfBond msg (below)? MIT found and posted a solution to this issue. It worked for me. Aug. 27, 2020. VMWare Fusion Version 11.5.6 (16696540). macOS Catalina 10.15.6 (19G73) In short, it did not require a clean install or any of that. I simply needed to restart in Recovery mode (hold Command-R while restarting), go into terminal, and enable the VMWare system software to work. Here's the link:      http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=160763976
It's a little surprising a huge company can't get a link that works, right?  Thanks for the solution!

I have the persona license, etc., but whether I use Firefox or Safari, the button to "manually download" does nothing.  My pop-up blockers are now disabled, same issue. I was able to download with my Pixel 2 Android, but want  VMware ppl/staff/community to be aware of this issue and/or provide the fix.
