I have vmware player 17.5.0 [ build-22583795 ] on windows 11 23h2 [ 22635.2483 ] installed and a sabrent usb 3.2 gen 2x1 10Gbps nvme enclosure [ https://amazon.com/dp/B08RVC6F9Y ] containing a crucial 1tb m.2 nvme [ https://amazon.com/dp/B0B25LZGGW ].  When i plug this into the dell inspiron 2-in-1 7640 laptop running the vmware player install it shows up in the host windows 11 OS environment but i'm never given the option to connect it instead to the windows 11 vm like i see in the case of usb connected flash drives. When i plug this same nvme enclosure into my iMac 24" m1 running macOS sonoma 14.0 and vmware fusion 13.5.0 for apple silicon macs i am provided the option to connect it to the windows 11 arm64 vm instead of the host macOS environment. i shut down the windows 11 vm and in settings tried enabling use of this usb-c attached pcie nvme storage by visiting vm settings | add | hard disk | nvme (recommended) | use a physical disk (for advanced users) but that option is greyed out with an information note below stating "physical disks are unavailable for encrypted virtual machines".  Where windows 11 vm installs have to be encrypted due to its [ virtual ] tpm requirement.  Is there some configuration setting i'm overlooking in vmware player on windows 11 to get this working similar to how you can connect and disconnect usb-c attached flash drives?

Running VMware fusion 13.0.2 on iMac 24" m1 macOS sonoma 14.0 and windows 11 arm64 23h2 22631.2428 vm setup with current VMware tools [ setup.ps1 ] additions in place. I'm finding that when iMac goes to sleep and I come back and revisit the VMware fusion hosted windows 11 arm64 vm setup the time is behind current time & date.  I have to visit settings | time & language | date & time and change set time automatically = on -> off then back to on to get it back in sync. Am I overlooking some configuration step that will ensure the VMware fusion hosted windows 11 arm64 vm will maintain correct time after host iMac macOS environment has been in sleep / suspend state for some time?

Thanks for the follow up and the link.  Coincidentally it made me realize that i was being challenged for a PIN, which i never set, instead of the password, which i did set to <empty>.  So just simply changing the credential option i was providing in the login screen from PIN to Password resolved the issue. A big doh on my side.

I could have swore that when i setup imac 24" m1 win11 arm using vmware fusion for apple silicon that i set the password to blank password.  We'll its been a few weeks since i booted that vmware fusion hosted win11 on arm install and hitting enter without typing in any password is not working.  Any other tips that vmware fusion might have for requiring that administrators group enabled user password given i tried the replace utilman.exe with cmd.exe trick and it appears windows now blocks that.

when i run the vmware player upgrade installer, e.g. 17.0.2, i get a prompt that says something about the fact that i have windows hypervisor enabled requires that i enable the windows feature "virtual machine platform" in order to properly run vmware player as well. on my windows 11 22h2 setup i have windows subsystem for linux, using store app installer not windows feature installer, and windows sandbox and windows subsystem for android.  i expect each of these required the windows feature "virtual machine platform" to be installed and when i view "turn windows features on and off" i see the "virtual machine platform" feature is checked. so i'm wondering what windows feature is it that vmware player [ upgrade ] installer is wanting me to install that isn't already in place?  the link on that installer dialog sends me to Error : Your host does not meet minimum requirements to run VMware workstation with hyper-v or device/credential guard enabled (76918) which doesn't appear to apply given i'm on a dell inspiron 7620 i7-1260p setup and vmware player has been running seemingly w/o any issues.

Where does one get the win11 arm iso being mentioned to do a clean install vs using the vhdx -> qemu-img conversation to vmdx setup route? Are you saying that if i install using the win11 arm iso, where ever i get that from, that i can then enroll in windows insider beta release channel vs being stuck on the release preview track option?
