I have installed ESX 3.5 (2 processors - 2 GB RAM) as a VM in Workstation 6.04 (its all running on my Vista SP1 laptop with 4 GB of RAM) and it works fine I want to install one guest on my ESX 3.5 host- (XP prof 128 MB RAM and 1 virtual processor) - don't wanna push y luck too far... I am using NAT shared IP with host as my NIC setting on the guest Its OK fixed by enabling DHCP on the guest !

Workstation v 6.0 - Host = Vista I've been running W2003 server guests for several weeks and they have seen the USB drive attached to the host quite happily Today ( no changes on the host) none of the guests see the same USB drive If i plug\unplug the drive the guests seem to detect it as the add\remove hardware icon in the taskbar appears - and it lists the USB However in Explorer the USB drive just will not show Any ideas guys ? The host sees the USB drive fine

Wow - you're right I was using the default memory settings of 384 MB per machine- now I've reduced it to 128 MB - I can get 3 up at the same time Thanx

I have VM Workstation 6.0 Is it possible to store and VMs on external storage e.g. a USB mass storage device? I tried copying a VM from my PC to the USB storage unit but when I try and open it I get a message saying 'cannot open one of the virtual disks neded by this VM as is larger than the max file size supported by the host file system. ' Its FAT32 if i format to NTFS will that fix the problem ?
Does anyone know any free firewall images I can import into VM ?

I can get my head around VM guest machines and have loaded W2003 server onto VM workstation on my laptop successfully Now someone has sent me the VM image of a thin client device so i can load it into VM to have a look at it Thing is I haven't a clue how to do it !!!! The folder I have consists of a 62 MB VM Virtual Disk file 192 Kb VM Virtual Disk file 1 Kb VM config file 9 Kb Nvram file And 4 text files labelled vmware, 1,2, and 3 - (look like log files of some) Now have any of u clever virtualised people got any ideas how i load that into VM !!!!?
