if the user does not have administrative rights, Auto it can not talk to vmware workstation pro 16 as it is run in an elevated permission window. If anyone has a work around to this, please post.

is there a VMrun command that can control full screen "multi monitor layout" vmware tool vmwareResolutionSet seems to only affect the virtual monitor count (so 3 virtual monitors show up on one full screen) the opposite of what I need. I found many posts asking for this feature, but never any indication that VMware intends to do anything about it. My users unfortunately have made this a non negotiable they will not be required "to do anything" to use their apps. leaving me at this point spending 100s of thousands of extra dollars buying kvm and additional computers. VMWARE their is a marketplace among Dr.s for this feature.

Not sure how to report a bug, or find out if I am just missing a setting config somewhere. Situation: I am running 2 VM's both running full screen on the same 3 out of 4 monitors on the system. when I minimize one of the VM's and then remaxamize it, The VM show up on the one monitor not currently hosting VM content. I needs to resume it previous position. Thank you for the help Kevin Weldon

how can I save the multimonitor layout so the VM launches with the same monitor layout each time? running vm workstation 16.2 The multi monitor functions are working great, except that I have to reset them every time I launch the VM. The system has 4 monitors. I use 3 in the VM layout. but when I reboot I have to reset this setting. The users we want to pass the system off to will not be able/willing to do this. I don't remember this behavior in previous tests. Thank you.

Product: VMware Workstation pro 15.5 I have a Microphone that needs to be used by three separate instances of the same program. (powerscribe by nuance, a medical dictation product) The program is installed on the Host system, and on two Virtual desktops running the app in unity mode (along with other software) Right now I am asking the users to go to the Vmware workstation and connect the device, or disconnect the device. so they can use it with the appropriate instance of the program. HOWEVER, is there a way or script that make it so that the when one of the instances becomes the active window, the usb device can automatically be passed to that VM ,or back to the host as the case maybe? If not is there a script I can write that would allow the swtiching process to be a single click, instead of having them open the vmware workstation window, find right machine and fiddle with settings? Thank you for any help or suggestions.

So i used the KB you linked to find a work around usb.autoConnect.device0 = "path:1/3/0/1" passing a specific usb port through to each VM did work. I still think that an auto connected USB device should have some option in the interface to say "connect this device now and everytime this VM boots" in my case the VID and PID did not do me any good as it is up to three of the exact same audio device, is what I am connecting. I really don't like the locked down port as a final option, I have seen one to many USB port problem that is fixed by unplug the device and plugging it into another USB port. and now the helpdesk staff will need instructions on finding and mapping a USB path, into the VMX file (something I really don't want just anyone touching) Thank you all again for the help, and the point in a working direction.

Thank you for all of the effort.

The unity mode desktop shortcuts seem to be tied to the user profile. is there a way to create a win 10 desktop short cut that works for all users that log on?

Any update on when a fix might be coming? We are evaluating the product and it has gone far better than we anticipated, accept for the fact we can not route the attached Dictaphones to the correct VM client by default. While right clicking in the console and directing the mic to the right session might not seem like a lot, we are trying to make it so the Doctor does not even realize thier application is not running on the local host. Thank you for all of your hard work.
