Hi and thank you for the reply. First of all I have failed dependancy and that is vmare tools foundations, so I donwloaded that package. when try to install this with rpm -i vmware-tools-foundation.... I ge error message that there is already VMWare tools present and that I need to remove them However I installed that (only partially because of gcc error) via .pl script. I use vmware' unistall.pl script to remove it but when I try to install foundations package I get a message V3 DSA signature... not sure what that means.

Hi to all, I have successfully installed old version of redhat linux with kernel version 2.4.20 inside the VMware Player 17. The problem is to install vmware tools. I have closely followed the instructions presented here: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1018414.   However, the problem starts when I get a message "The path"" is not a valid path for gcc binary", So I choose to change the path end enter the following: /usr/bin/gcc,  This is because the following terminal command: which gcc returns: /usr/bin/gcc and command gcc -V also returns something like: Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.2.2/specs.... .... gcc version 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5) So, obviously, gcc compiler is installed. I have know idea what path vmware tools interactive tools expects to see. Can you suggest what else I can try?   Thank you!
Great resource, thank you!

Hello VMWare experts, I have VMware Workstation 17 Player (registered for commercial use). I have Windows 10 Virtual machine and inside this machine, when I enter device manager, NIC (LAN) adapter are recognized as Intel NIC.  On the other hand, if I install Linux Mint inside VM and execute lspci terminal command to get information about the NIC, I gt something like this: Ethernet controller [0200]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] 79c970 So, somehow Linux Mint recognized virtual NIC inside the VM as AMD NIC. Is it possible to define that this virtual NIC adapter show inside the Mint also as Intel NIC?  I have tried to install Intel pro Linux drivers inside the machine but didn't have any success? Is this even controllable by the user or only by the OS itself that is installed inside VM?   Thank you.

Thank you very much Carlton. I have already seen these resources. Limitation part talks about cases if there are more than 2 monitors to be used in the VMWare player. My configuration is already satisfying all conditions. I need only two monitors to be used and available in vmware player host system. The host OS is win 11 and guest is win 7, so all requirements are satisfied. I used kvm option before to start vmware player virtual machine in full scren mode via shortcut on the host's desktop. I basically want to same, but this time to start vm with two monitors available for the guest and in the full screen. So far I can set up this manually, just like described n the suggested resources.

Hello, I have read the following blog: https://blogs.vmware.com/workstation/2014/03/whats-cool-vmware-kvm-utility.html and I like this functionality very much. However, how to set up to start VM on 2 monitors? I have host OS that uses 3 monitoris and when M starts I would like to start in full screen on monitors 1 and 2. Is this possible? When VM starts, I can choose multiple monitors from the toolbar, but would like to make a shortcut on the host desktop, so all can start preconfigured.

Hello to all, I have made a .tib image from physical machine and restore it successfully in VMWare Player v15. The guest OS is win XP and I need this because of some legacy sw. Now, I have installed vmware tools and everything is OK. I have made some changes in the sw in the VM in the sw application and test it. Now, since VM use virtual network adapters, of course, old real hw adapters are now hidden in the device manager of the VM because they are not present in the virtual machine anymore. These adapters have some static IPs on original machine (I can verify this on virtual machine in windows registry). So nothing is removed from the device manager (at least not by myself). Now, my plan is to make another .tib image, now from the VM, so basically I'm backuping up the VM guest now, and I want to restore this image on a new HDD in the original physical machine (I don't want to mess up original hdd). Since I diidn't uninstall any drivers in the guest OS that was running on the VMWare Player, and some new drivers are installed for the graphic and virtual network cardsby vmware itself, I wonder if restored system would work on original physical machine. In theory it should work, since windows would recognize all hw that originally was installed in the first place, and I should have all orignal drivers and settings for the gpu card and network cards. Is that right? What is your experience, did you have a situation like this?

Hello, I wonder if I can use vmware player 15 when I have two network cards on host OS? I need them be in bridged mode, so one guest OS (VM) can be part of one network, while other guest OS (VM) be part of totally different network (i think one or both of them can be NAT, in that case host OS would need to set up proper IP addresses for both network, but bridged seems more suitable for this). It seems that in vmware player it is not possible to link specific virtual adapter to specific NIC on the host. Any recommendations? Thank you

Hello, i want to set up two VMs on one host machine. This host machine is physically connected to a local office network (192.168.1.xxx). Is it possible to set up two IP addresses on guest machines, one for each VM so these VMs can share data and access to network resources of other computers on a local LAN. Host computer has only one NIC. In other words is it possible to ping Vms (and exchange data) from any other computer. On the physical level all communication would be through same NIC on host machine. Is it possible? If it is how can I set up virtual network adapters. I guess I need to set it up to bridge mode. Thank you

Hello vmWare experts, Can I use vmware converter on windows machine to make a virtual machine (virtualize) running red hat linux 9.0 machine via network. Is there something else I need to pay attention to? Thank you.

Hello to all, I have two virtual machines on one host. Both virtual machines are started in VMWare Player 14. Is there any way I can assign each NIC to specific VM? What I want to achieve is the following: - each virtual machine should be connected to its own network (completely separated networks) - two VMs share private network - physical LAN cables from two separate networks are connected to host's NICs The problem I have is that somehow both VMs are bridging to the same physical NIC on the host. I have tried to use option "replicate physical" but no success. The set up is the following: - each VM has defined two network adapters, one is in bridge mode, other is specific VMNet0 (for internal network between two VMs). The problem is that vmware player doesn't have an option to specifically bridge VM1 to physical NIC1 and VM2 to physical NIC2. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thank you

Hello guys, this is my first virtualization project in vmware player. I decided to "virtualize" two machines with windows XP OS and put it on one new machine with windows 7 as host. Machines A and B had a network connection between them and this connection was used by some applications installed on them. In addition to these connections, both machines had their own network connection to other networks. For example machine A had two LAN connections: IP address 10.0.0.15 and 192.168.0.1, and machine B had IP address 172.20.0.15 and 192168.0.2. IP addresses 192.168.xxx.xxx. were used between these two machines. Since these machines will be virtualized, I need one new host machine with only two LAN interfaces (third network is between virtual machines i.e. internal network). So I used standalone converter and successfully made two VMs and I set up internal network between them. I have test the communication between them and it is OK So, right now, I need to set up network connection on virtual machine A to network 10.0.0.xxx and network connection on virtual machine B to network 172.20.0.xxx. Should I set up virtual network adapters as NAT or Bridged? I have tried the following: - I have set up first LAN interface of host machine to IP address of machine A (10.0.0.15), and second to 172.20.0.15 - In properties of virtual machine A I have set up virtual network adapter to Bridged and I have chosen physical network card  (configure adapter) with address 10.0.0.15 - In  properties of virtual machine B I have set up virtual network adapter to Bridged and I have chosen physical network card with address 172.20.0.15 The result is that I have a limited connectivity and cannot ping network 10.0.0.xxx from VMA and I also cannot ping network 172.20.0.xxx from VMB If I chose NAT, then how can I be sure that VMA cannot access network 172.20.0.xxx? This should not be the case. Basically I want that my virtual network adapter from VMA can only be bridged to host network card with IP address 10.0.0.15 and VMB to be bridged to 172.20.0.15. Attached, please find my block diagram that. Thank you very much for your help.
