@continuum,, Thx for the quick replies!  Glad to know that the VM is good.  Have already run chkdsk and didn't find any errors.  Glad to rule out Fusion or Windows 10 causing the Qiuicken "error accessing disk" issue. Looks like it may be a Quicken issue.  I've sent logs and sanitized file to them and will wait to hear back. Appreciate your help as well as that of @Technogeezer .

@Technogeezer, No.  Quicken runs in Windows and my Quicken files are on the c: drive in Quicken.  I do store backups on a shared drive, however i haven't had to use a backup since 2018.

I'm running a Windows 10 virtual machine using Fusion 12.2.3 on a MBP running OS 12.4.   i use Windows primarily to run Quicken.  I received the following error message when using Quicken "Error accessing disk".  Quicken's help documentation says possible causes are disk errors or use of cloud storage.  Because I don't use cloud storage, I'm trying to see if the c: drive on the Windows VM has data integriy issues or bad sectors. I've run "chkdsk /f /r" from the command prompt and found no errros/bad disks, etc. Is there any other way to confirm whether the c: drive on the Windows VM contains any errors?  Could errors in the VM files cause this error?  if so, how can I check?  Thx in advance for the assistance.

I have been running Windows 10 21H2 OS Build 19044.1415  on Fusion 12.2.1 installed on my 2019 MBP running Monterey 12.1.  I have been using "Share with My Mac" connection so that Windows has access to the internet (prior to Fusion 11 I had been using Bridged Networking Autodetect but that stopped working and hasn't worked in Fusion 11 nor 12). The host is connecting to my home network via wi-fi. I am not running nor have ever run any corporate VPNs nor have any corporate security software (this is my personal MBP). Share with My Mac has been working fine until a few  days ago. when I would lose the internet connection after a few hours.  To restore the connection I would have to reboot the guest OS.  Today after I lost the internet connection in Fusion, I can't restore even after restarting Fusion and Windows.  I can access the internet on the host MBP. Any help in resolving this issue would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I've never had this issue with with previous version of Fusion and OSX but my print job in Windows 10 are going to "File" rather than my printer.  The printer works fine with the MBP. I've always been able to print directly to my printer until today.  Not sure when or why this is happening.  I'm running Big 1Sur 11.6.1 on an Intel MBP.  Fusion version 12.2.1.  Windows 10 was upgraded when it came out and I'm running the latest version and is now on 21H2 OS Build 19044.1348. I've tried deleting the printer from the Fusion Settings dialog, restarting Windows, shutting it down, and adding the Printer back in the Fusions settings dialog.  That didn't work. I see that i Windows the "File" port is selected however I'm unable to change the settings see attached file. Any help resolving this issue would be appreciated.  Thank you.

@hagganhave you tried the "Shared with My Mac" option?  I had the same issue as you did with the bridged options. As for VMware Tools, they were working for me.  Because I thought a new install might fix the internet issues, I uninstalled them in Windows using Windows Settings.  I then reinstalled them using the Install VMware Tools option.  (That didn't address the internet issues by the way.) I agree that this is crazy.  Fortunately for me I'm running the unpaid version of Fusion 12 because I use it for my personal computer.  Until I tried the "Shared with my Mac" option and it worked I was ready to pay for Parallels. Do you know any downside to using the "Shared with My Mac" approach?

I'm glad I found this thread.  I've been using Fusion since 4.x... to run Windows on MacBook Pros.  My requirements for Windows are fairly simple...need to access the Internet for Quicken and 3 other Windows programs. Last year I upgraded Fusion from 11 to 12 when I upgraded to Big Sur which was running on my Late 2013 MBP.  At that time I had no issues with internet access...even on Big Sur 11.2.3.  Network adapter was set to be bridged.  And the Fusion device had its own IP address assigned by me through our router.  (All of our devices on our home network have IP addresses assigned through the router.) Last week, the 2013 MBP started shutting down randomly and would only work when connected via HDMI to another monitor.  As a result, I bought a new 16" MBP running Big Sur 11.2.3 and used Migration Assistant to move my files, etc. from the 2013 MBP to the new one.  Successfully did so with no errors. That's when I discovered this issue on the new MBP (which is assigned it's own IP address).  Quicken would only download some account information some of the time.  Thinking the issue was with Quicken I tried to reset online services for the accounts in question however that didn't work. After some searching I found this thread and tried to manually set DNS addresses on Windows 10...which didn't work.  Also tried reinstalling the network adapter and VMware Tools and am now stumped.  (By the way, the old MBP's Windows 10 running under Fusion 12.1.1 still can access the internet with no problems.) Now to my question:  the only way I've been able to access the internet on the 16" MBP is to set the network adapter to "Share with Mac".  What is the disadvantage of doing so compared to the "Bridged Autodetect" setting?  Are there any advantages compared to Bridged Network?  If VMWare ever fixes this issue, should I go back to Bridged Networking for my use case? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
finaluser, Turns out I didn't have to install Intel drivers. The solution for me was to add a line to the .vmx file. After Fusion 11.5.0 upgrade, no usb devices recognized

RickShu, Thank you...appreciate it.  I backed up the VM using CCC just in case.  Made the changes and worked. Will wait for the next release and hopefully remember to check!

Solved: Followed the instructions below from VMWare support. 1. Ensure the Virtual Machine is shut down and VMware Fusion is not running (quit). 2. Under Documents, look for Virtual Machine Folder. 3. You will see Windows 10 64. 4. Right click on Windows vm and select Show package content. 5. Look for Windows 10 6 4. .VMX (not VMXF). 7.Now you can right click on the file and select open with Text Edit. 8.Scroll all the way down to the bottom and add the below lines. 9. usb.generic.keepStreamsEnabled = "FALSE"10. Click on file from the top left menu and select Save.

I like(d) Fusion when I first started using it about 10 years ago on my MBP to run Windows.  I never liked how it (didn't) handled USB devices.  I have tried to use several different USB portable drives in a Windows 10 VM under Fusion 11.5.3 but Windows will either not recognize the drive or if it does, it doesn't show up in File Explorer.  An older Canon scanner connected vis USB works just fine. I have checked and unchecked VMWare permissions in the MBP's System Preferences, removed/reinstalled the USB driver using VMWare Tool multiple times. The best I've been able to do is to avoid the "The device "device name" was unable to connect to its ideal host controller" message. Any help on getting the drive (which shows up in the Devices and Printer: with the following information: would be appreciated.  The USB drive is a Seagate drive formatted as MS-DOS? FAT by MBP.  (I've also tried exFAT formatting but that didn't help either.) Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Will, I ran into the same black screen as others.  After much trial and error using the preview screen in Fusion, I was able to shut down the Windows guest.  Rather than continue trying to run 8.5.10 I opted to pay the upgrade price of $50 + tax and downloaded 11.5 to avoid future issues. I appreciate knowing the root cause so thank you.
