Hi, I am using VMware Workstation Pro in two different computers. One computer’s specification is i5 8th Gen with 12GB RAM & SSD. Another computer’s specification is i5 11 Gen with 16GB RAM & SSD. Both are Windows 11. I created one VM in both computers. VM settings are memory 8GB, processor 4 core and HD 64 GB. However, in both computers, the memory usages are very high up to 85-90%. Please let me know, what I need to check and how to resolve it? With Regards GnVm

It can be left as disabled. And it can be useful if we want to access Virtual Machine directly. If I am right for Intel (R) VT-d, please let me know, how I can do it practically? With Regards GnVm

I am using VMware Workstation 16 Pro 16.2.4 build-20089737. Guest OS is Windows 11. TPM is required for Windows 11 installation. That’s why I selected UEFI (without Secure boot). After creating and before turning on the VM, I did Edit virtual machine settings > Options > Access Control > Encrypt. Hardware > CD/DVD > Use ISO image file Hardware > Add > Trusted Platform Module > When I turned on the VM, the first screen I see,  press any key to boot from CD/DVD, then Time out EFI Network. I didn't press any for for booting from CD/DVD.  After few second, I see Boot Manager.                 I couldn’t understand which option can start Windows 11 installation. With Regards GnVm

Hi, By default, Disable side channel mitigations for Hyper-V enabled hosts is unchecked. Host is Windows 11. I didn’t enable Hyper-V manually. However, I checked by these ways, Win+R (as Administrator) > systeminfo Checked Windows features. In the list, Hyper-V is not showing. Win+R (as Administrator) > services.msc In all ways, I didn’t find, Hyper-V is enabled. However, I see message whenever I turn on a VM. Please let me know its cause.                  I found the link https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/79832 and read the reason. I don’t think anything done as per explanation in the link. Please let me know, how to figure-out its cause. With Regards GnVM

Hi, Host OS is Windows 10 with 12GB RAM & i5-8250U. I created two VMs; Windows 10 and Windows 11. For both VMs, memory is 4GB, cores is 4 and HD is 100GB. Whenever I use either of both VMs (one VM at a time), memory usages of host OS go beyond 80%. I increased memory of both VMs to 8GB and used both Windows VMs one by one, memory usages of host OS go beyond 85-90%. Whenever I use either of Windows VMs, I don’t use any applications on host OS. However, the memory utilization is very high. Because of continuous high usages of memory utilization of host OS, I am afraid of hardware issue in RAM. Please let me know, how to manage both VMs and memory utilization? With Regards NndnG

Hi, I just downloaded Hyper-V Server 2019 from the link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-hyper-v-server-2019. Downloaded file is an iso file. As it is an iso file and I read some articles, Hyper-V Server 2019 can be installed in bare-metal. As of now, I don’t have bare-meter machine. Please let me know, can I install it as a Guest OS in VMware Workstation? If yes, how can I install it as a Guest OS. With Regards GnVm

After all diagnosis, it is recommended to us SSD for VMs. The laptop supports only 256 GB SSD and I have 250 GB SSD. Windows 10, user accounts, applications, other related files and settings take almost 100 GB. As Windows 10 takes update frequently so for safer side if I give 150 GB to drive C:, I have only 100 GB for virtual hard drive. In current situation (without adding SSD), virtual hard disks are already in another drive. When I access even one virtual hard disk using VMware Workstation, disk usages go up to 100%. If I add SSD, install Windows and all applications in SSD and change virtual hard disk path to another drive (HD) like current situation, will that be helpful? As per my understanding, virtual hard disks are again in the same location i.e. HD so no major changes. Therefore, not helpful. Please advise and elaborate. With Regards GnVm

Hi, I have seen multiple times. During Windows Server installation on bare-metal machine or VirtualBox or Azure, by default Administrator account is the user account. It doesn’t ask to create another user account. Before installing Windows Server in VMware Workstation, it asks for a user account which becomes local-administrator account after installation. So there are two user accounts including built-in administrator. Can this issue be resolved? If yes, please let me know, how? With Regards GnVm

Hi, I installed Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 on VMware Workstation. The Network connection of both are LAN Segment and because of LAN Segment, Internet is not working in both VMs. Domain Controller and DHCP configured successfully on Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 is a DHCP Client. Now I have to setup same lab with Internet access. That’s why I installed another Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10. Be it NAT or Bridged Network Connection, can I setup and configured Domain Controller and DHCP? I accessed router using 192.168.0.1 and I found. DHCP is enabled at the router and IP range defined is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.110. What should be the IP range so that I can assign it manually for domain controller? Initially I assigned 192.168.0.111 with default gateway 192.168.0.120 and primary DNS 192.168.0.1 and secondary DNS 8.8.8.8 but no Internet access. I hope I explained my question well. Regards GnVm

Hi, The default DHCP Settings in my TP-Link Router as DHCP Server: Enable Start IP Address: 192.168.0.100 End IP Address: 192.168.0.199 Lease Time: 120 minutes (1~2880 minutes, the default value is 120) Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (optional) Default Domain: (optional) DNS Server: 0.0.0.0 (optional) Secondary DNS Server: 0.0.0.0 (optional) I have max 5 devices connected with internet access so if I change it as Start IP Address: 192.168.0.100 End IP Address: 192.168.0.105 I believe there will not be any issue. As Guest OS, I created Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 in VMware Workstation. Currently network connection type of both is NAT. I have to assign static IP in Windows Server 2016 so that it can be promoted as a Domain Controller. I have to configure DHCP in Windows Server 2016 so that Windows 10 can get IP from Windows Server 2016. Moreover, there should internet access in all Guest OS. If I assign Static IP between 192.168.0.106 and 192.168.0.199, pick IPs between 192.168.0.106 and 192.168.0.199 for DHCP range for Windows Server 2016 and default gateway as 192.168.0.1 in all Guest OS, will that be fine without any issue? Pls advise me. Regards EinfoMail
