Installing AD/DNS in Fusion, and i took a Snapshot as current with Host-Only config. Then i preceded to install prerequisites and Exchange 2013 under Bridged mode. After installing Exchange VM >> General size showed 25Gig approx..   The Snapshot file "i" for AD/DNS was only 9.5Gig so, when i restored i thought the size would match, but it does not.. Pre-Exchange restored ok, inclusion VM Host only, and no exchange just AD/DNS, BUT when checking size it is still 25Gig, which is too much for just AD/DNS on Windows Server I the assumed this much be 'white space' from vmdk file... Basically the same game as ESXi datastore does when you shrink..The reason i'm using snapshots is they consume less space then a full clone... but unfortunately if i can't get size back to 9.5 or so gig, then i may as well just do full clone. as it would be easier..   Am i doing something wrong here , as virula disk in Windows shows roughly 9 Gig is right... so it must be just white space being the difference.
Confirmed, allow a 2nd time, adds a 2nd entry to MacOS Firewall and so on... etc. thus you can end up with multiple entries of this...

Every now and then when i start VMWare Fusion on  Mac I get this popup:  It looks like there is really only one way to stop this, and its to click "Allow" which adds it to firewall, "Allow all connections"   Clicking Deny, in my case doesn't add it at all.. And as far as i am aware its related to Fusion version 12.2.3, and it pops up every time you restart Mac, unless you allow..   Apart for this annoyance, there doesn't seem to be anything that i do that interferes with this when cicking Deny....  Is there a reason why it doesn't add to firewall list as "blocked"  I guess that would be one work around... Add it, then change status.. but i was hoping there be a better way than just to allow..

Setting up file Sharing over SMB with 10.12 (Sierra) in VMWare Fusion, to 10.15 (Catalina) on Host, but the "Users" folder is blank (it only appears for 'Public folder" not my shared folder. I can click "+" and add "Administrators" but the and ok, but the list remains blank, therefore i an unable to set any permissions (i wish to grant Read Only access)   I then thought of "Get info" and set "lock" on the folder  whether that would be work around.  I tested the users section in Cataliina and added share and Users area is not blank, so its either particular to 10.12 or VMWare fusion is not allowing this. All updates applied on Guest.   I've set 'Bridged Connection' in VM (AFP), so i'm good to go... I'm using AFP because its a HFS+ usb drive i'm accessing.. and although i read SMB password is saved in less secure manner, i'm not taking any chances.   "Because the passwords of user accounts used for Windows sharing may be stored in a less secure manner, turn off the account when it’s not being used. Before you turn off Windows sharing, turn off all the accounts you enabled. Otherwise, the passwords are still stored less securely." https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/mac-help/mchlp1657/mac

ok... windows firewall is turned off for this to test. Ya, i kinda figured that, t i got Ultimate Boot CD anyway to partially work by pointing server to BIN file.... However, it error-ed before getting to menu i think your right, more is needed... on windows extracted then. No WinPE, but windows 10 iso.
because i'd have to copy files across first .... It it works from VM, why not?   I know their can be limitations, but not in this case.

Has anyone done PXE booting using TFTP for Windows 10 ? I tried booting Linux iso  (Ultimate Boot CD) image and it cannot find server TFTP root folder has iso image in   I have pulled the syslinix.cfg file frm /boot folder of image and put it in settings and configured accordingly... Both VM's are in Host only.   Its not even hitting TFTP server as nothing in log viewer. What am i missing? I cannot enter gateway because Host only doesn't report gateway when doing ipconfig /all from command prompt.
Didn't select it as recorder.

Is CD burning supported by Mac guests fully? Running Mac OS High Sierra (10.12.6) in VMWare Fusion, and it looks like is my USB 2.0 CD/DVD burner is supported, as i get the "popup" of a bank disc inserted...  Checking "System Information" does reveal the drive is listed... But when creating a Playlist in iTunes to "burn the songs to disc" iTunes is failing and asking me if i wish to to the default VMWare virtual.. Seems iTunes not supporting ???? System information does say CD-R... so looks like Mac guest in  understanding the recording functionality, but not enough for iTunes to care. Never heard if an OS supporting, but an "default Apple app" does not. Usually in virtual environment, its the OS that either supports, or doesn't, not an app within it, Particually when its a app that came with the OS. Aside from dragging all the song from the guest, to the host just to burn.. is there a way i can get it to work in a Mac guest?
In Fusion 12.x I creates Sophos XG, VM (other-64) Linux based.. and set the memory to '8192' MB which for Windows systems would be 8Gig..   So, why is it only showing 6 Gig here

Well. They do allow TPM in VM, which is also "hardware based" Windows systems... Knowing that, it should be perfectly do-able with TouchID too on the Mac side... Security may be a reason not to implement it, but if it's gonna be a security issue with one , then its also a security issue with the other too  with encrypting in "software" hypervisor.
i had "Automatically adjust user interface." checked... When i unchecked and logged back in.  its ok and display continues to be 2880x1800

Someone did a great explanation on full resolutions in  a VM on a Retina display, and why Mac icons look bigger.: Running the Retina MacBook Pro at Full 2880x1800 Resolution - MacRumors   Apple would rather use those extra pixels for detail, rather than more space (like on windows),   However, why then installing VMWare Tools, on some servers (2008 R2 vs 2016) does the resolution change to "big" despite no user change in VM preferences: (I like to call it 'fixed size' because in a window things don't scale automatically)   example: after installing VMWare Tools       Did Microsoft change things on later versions ?

when i initially installed Vmware Fusion, and installed Sophos, and 2nd for WAN SMB sharing (both got IP 172.16.129.x in Host only mode) I unfortunately had to reinstall Fusion,..  However since then, i had to reinstall Fusion, however this time it got Host IP: 172.16..139.x When i try and statically assign, it i loose accessi.. i can't map as subnet is now different) How can i force it back?   Ideally,i always thought Host only mode was 172.16.129. rage, but i guess not.
as in "running on the web" ? interesting... all that's needed is WebGL enabled... Would  still need software to download witch interfaces may be a problem.
