Just saying "Shared Folder" only required a Host (i.e Mac. and No physical network needed).   The 'snag' i was referring to you must have a physical network to share anything. That is a limitation..... Compare this to UTM and Parallels where they have clearly worked it out for some time> VMWare on M1 can't even do this yet. son ya,, its a "snag"  its what i'm getting use to and it always trips me up.... "oh ya i can't share without a "physical" LAN connection" but well..... its annoying at best.. The act of keeping File Sharing/SMB/ and all enabled is not really that much of a problem.. The 'snag" is you gotta type an IP address to "use it" where drag and drop was previously there with Intel Mac';s

Trying to go from 13.0.1 to 13.0.2 it downloads ok, but cannot install: This is the message:     It stays that way.  waited like 20 minutes, and refuses to budge.  Almost looks like nits waiting for something else to complete, but can't Bugger if i know... I have to "Force quit" to regain access to Fusion, but update not applied.. Any fix ?? Tried 3 or 4 times can can reproduce every time.. Website also not updated so even if i wanted to download new version, i could not...   So, this is the only path at this point.
Its cumbersome, but SMB/IP as above, it does work... The only snag is it must be over a physical network. which is the limiting factor here.. whichever method you use it relies on physical network. ... See more...

I think this is an issue with Ventura, not Fusion. I'm on a Macbook AIr M1, and have "File sharing" enabled.. yet can only access Windows shares, If i set up in Windows 11 Arm, share a folder, i can "Connect to server" from mac, but Windows 11 won't see Mac, even though i can ping it from windows fine, and visa vera. I ruled out Fusion because I remember being on 13.0.1 as well on Big sur on Macbook M1 some time ago (now sold), and sharing was working perfectly fine. This is the first time i have got another Mac but now on Ventura, and based on most people online having the same sharing issue, i believe this is an OS related   Has anyone had the same thing?   For now, i'm just sharing windows folders TO Mac, which is  not the general order i do things.

Thanks.. Copying vmx worked fine.. Selected right option "Move" and activation ok..   However i had to "copy" not just drag and drop to package, otherwise you get this strange error "The file is corrupted" which is false.. I tested by dragging from backup to folder on SSD (outside package) and it worked, but for some reason i couldn't drag to package,, i had to copy.  " Bloody Mac OS "thing" i guess.
Thanks.  This continues to work in Fusion 13.0.1   What is this "Background items" for ..btw?

Ideally, Linux has been far behind with stuff, so i always think this is "the year" that vmware is more focused, as yiou DO have shared folder on Linux VM, (even if it doesn't work well). Its still implemented. VMWare knows its user base (particularly its long term) with VMWare Fusion ar not going anyway anytime soon, plus the amount of switching over to something else like Parallels will be a huge leap, because not all of these products are compatible.. i.e you can't just load up .vmware structure in Parallels, you have to convert, so that's one nail people won't always do.. VMware probably know these hurdles people will not go for, and they know people will "wait"... When it happens ..? remains to be seen. I'm surprised 13.0.1 is not good enough yet either.. and the release notes spell absolutely nothing about shared folders on "Known issues", so to me, iot will be a while yet otherwise it would be mentioned... (i.e commingl soon), at least that's my take on it.. I could be wrong,, of course.
Hopefully next update.... (and soon)   .. At least we all agree on something ..

In Fusion 12.2.4 running on Big Sur, if you have private IP connected to a network, (169.x.x range), and you set 'service order' on MacOS to that being first priority, you must first disconnect from Wi-Fi, for it to work.. Is there anya way around this.??       Verified this,, by using iPhone personal  hot spot while WI-Fi was still connected, make iPhone First pririty, and then check ip...   traffic was pulled from iPhone first, not from Wi-fi, so the issue with with Fusion, not Mac. To resole the issue with Fusion, i must first disconnect from Wi-fi for it to "see" 169.x.x. otherwise i get timed out, which means being self-assigned Ip specifically, it ignores service order for this only.   Running MacOS Big SUr 11.6.8 and clean installed...

I am running VMWare fusion with ESXI.. i wish to use large Datastore on my NAS for extra storage. to connect via NFS..   This works over Wifi.... but since it keeps disconnecting due to bandwith issues, i thougt of connecting NAS directly via Gigabit to Mac..I've set "service order" under Catalina to use Wi-fi 1st,  then Gigabit adapter (to NAS with has gigabit oirt) as 2nd... and  this part works..   Can VMware see 192.168.x.x and 169.254. (NAS) at the same time or not ?   I go under Network settings in fusion and it bridges (one host only and one USB gigabit), but there no ip address associated and icon remains disconnected *red* state., even though i can access NAS fine in web browser over 169.x,. The idea being, it Datastore would be faster over Gigabit, than slower network.. so i can have the best of both world. (if it worked) Temp solution only while i upgrade LAN with gigabit throughout. The other solution i thought was getting gigabit switcch, but this is gonna be a permanent solution, not temp one. Datastorte would be permanently on NAS, but i'm trying to see which way i can go best while i work on a permanent solution.

I know you can remove the adapter itself, but it when re-adding, it doesn't remove the one indicated with arrow...  I'm not needing to use it again and just looks cleaner it it wasn't there. This is one of those physical adapters with either-net, card reader and all, i was testing something but didn't work out..
