I'm guessing the disk needs repair, but it shows up when plugged into USB port on a regular PC running Disk wiping utilities from UltimateBootCD (it's based on Feedos)... yet i get the above error when running the HD in Fusion this way. This kinda explains why it would show up on a regular PC, but it wouldn't explain why this error appears in Fusion.  I'm guessing it has to to with the external-hdd.vmdk file ??
Problem solved. I just used path instead to point outside VM folder.

Hi all.. II wish to use Spinrite for raw disk access to an external drive on Mac 10.9 I'm using VMWare Fusion 6.0.4, and from Terminal I do the following :- - cd "/Applications/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/" - ./vmware-rawdiskCreator create /dev/disk1 fullDevice ~/external-hdd ide It give me external-hdd.vmdk file in /home folder, which i need to move into VM  image "Show Package Contents", in order to add two lines to VM image.. However, the problem is i'm unable to move it.. I get the following error: "You can't open the application <VM> because it may be damaged or incomplete." How can i move to this folder ? or isn't it possible ? There is nothing wrong with the disk image .. it runs fine in Fusion.
yes, it appears on the host. The issue is it appears on the host anyway... even with fusion running since before it connects in fusion u get the screenshot dialog popup.. I don't believe it... See more...

I don't believe its connected to the OS since it never appears in Disk Utility, nor from Terminal, but i do believe its connected to Fusion application because if you go under Virtual machine menu for USB, it shows "disconnect" so i think its just an OS issue running in the guest that's not current supporting.
no,  the hard drive is connected directly to the mac's usb port

no, it works fine.
VM tools is installed. i've tried re-installing and didn't help
Regarding installing Mavericks in VMWare Fusion, full screen is virtually impossible to use. Also, some slight graphics issues when returning/in  window mode, and at start-up.-

Hi all.. When running Windows 7 in VMWare fusion 6.0.3, after installing VMWare Tools, and restarted the VM, Aero is never enabled, You must always run the "System experience"  to example all hardware... Why must this be done, if VMWare fusuion has the right driver from VMWare Tools ? I've used Parallels i the past and never need to do this, so why it an issue with VMWare ? No big deal, its just i don't see i would have thought Aero would be just automatic if hardware support is there, just like a regular PC desktop. Also, how done one share from Fusion to Mac ? I tried sharing a drive/folder just as on a regular PC, and it shows up, but on Fusion with VMWare Tools installed... nothing....  the drive/folder is shared cos it appears as mapped drive under Computers I tried enabling Sharing Folders under Fusion, but didn't help. I'm guessing this area is only for sharing from mac to VM, not the other way around.?
