This problem still exists in VMWare Player 17.0.1.

I'm sure if I spent a couple hours, I could figure this out, but I'm hoping someone already has and can just tell me. Since vmrun is no longer shipped with VM Player, I have to use vmrest.  I know I can use the web interface, but that doesn't help me.  Instead, I need to talk directly to the REST API provided by vmrest.  Well, like I said, I'm hoping someone out there has already done this (e.g. with some Python program) and would be willing to share that code with me.  I'm just looking for a way to suspend a VM, nothing else.
For the record, I have an AMD GPU, so the problem is not GPU-specific. "I think the problem is related to LTSpice changing the cursor from a pointer to a custom bitmap."  -- that makes sense.
BTW, this problem does not occur with Player 16.1.2 build-17966106, so this is a REGRESSION.  I'm going to stick with 16.1.2 for now.
I have restarted VMware multiple times.  It doesn't seem to help.

I have VMware Workstation Player 16.2.1 on Linux and I added managedvm.autoAddVTPM = "software" to the .vmx file that I created for a new VM.  When I go to the VM settings, I do not see any options for adding or configuring a TPM device. When I try to install Windows 11 from an .iso, it complains that my PC is not compatible.  The PC Checkup tool says that I'm missing TPM support. So it seems to me that the managedvm.autoAddVTPM setting does not work for VMware Workstation Player.  Is this correct?  If not, then what else is missing?

I'm seeing a really weird mouse pointer issue that happens only in one application.  I'm running VMware Player 16.2.1 for Linux, and the VM is Windows 10.  The app is Sketchup Make 2017, a 3D modeling tool. In Sketchup, it appears that the mouse pointer is drawn about 10-20 pixels to the left of where it's actually pointing.  That is, the pointer looks like it's pointing at a specific position, but Windows and Sketchup act as if it's pointing somewhere else.  I've attached a picture of the problem.  I had to take a picture of the screen using my camera because when I use a screen shot tool, the screen shot shows the mouse pointer in the correct position!  This leads me to suspect that the problem is with the mouse emulation in VMware Workstation. In the picture, the blue line is being drawn.  You can see that the tip of the pencil is not near the line itself, but it should be. What's weird is that this only happens in the drawing window of Sketchup.  The application menus work fine -- the mouse pointer is not misaligned there. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?  VMware Workstation Player is really limited in terms of customization (most of the Google searches I've seen provide tips that only work on regular VMware Workstation.

Kubuntu is just Ubuntu with KDE instead of Gnome.  Everything else is the same, so yes, Bash is the default shell.  Anyway, I uninstalled and reinstalled vmware without "bash", and the problem remains. The only thing I can think of is that I'm ssh'ing into the system that has vmware installed, so it's a remote X session.
I downloaded it from vmware and installed it using this command: sudo bash VMware-Player-16.1.2-17966106.x86_64.bundle My password is just some letters.

I'm not sure if I can explain properly what's going on.  I'm running Windows 10 in a guest and Linux is the host.  I've installed Java in the Windows guest.  I'm running a Windows app in the guest that wants to launch Java and run a .jar file.  I'm getting an error message dialog box that says: "The file C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Temp\SKMtools\EdgeDetector.jar is not in a folder shared with the host and cannot be opened by the host." The error message is correct when it says that C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Temp\SKMtools\ is not a shared folder.  However, I do not want VMware to open the .jar file in host.  I want it to open it in the guest!  After all, I have Java installed in the guest already. How do I fix this?  How do I force VMware to never open any host apps?
That web page tells me nothing.  It just provides the generic instructions for installing the tools.
