I created a Win11x64 VM under Fusion 12 Player using the, I guess, experimental vTPM configuration.  Worked great for what it was. I just upgraded to Fusion 13 Player and wanted to adjust the settings to improve VM performance.  After upgrading from Fusion 12 to 13 the VM settings show that it's set to encrypt "All the files" but to change it requires removing the vTPM module from the VM.  When I look at the vTPM configuration it states that "Removing the TPM will destroy all encrypted data on this virtual machine." I checked the VMware website to figure out exactly what is encrypted and what destroying that data entails and can't find anything. Instructions on how to add or remove the module but that's it.  The community has more info and that is mainly about Fusion 12 right now. Honestly, I'm afraid that if I remove the TPM that my VM will just be wiped out! Questions: 1. What exactly is encrypted when the VM is set to "All the files"?  I'm not using Bitlocker. 2. What is destroyed when the TPM is removed?  Does it just remove lines from the various .vmx, etc files or does it actually wipe the files out completely? 3. Is there a performance advantage, real world, to changing the VM to just ecrypt "Only the files needed to support a TPM"? 4. I made a copy of my Win11 VM.  Just copied the entire .vmware container.  Can I mount this as long as I have the original encryption password?  If not, what's the recommended way to bare metal backup? It just feels like there is a feature missing.  If you have the encryption password you should be able to change the ecryption settings.  It just feels like this is a scorched earth approach to making changes to the VM.   Thanks for any info on this.

Thanks for the reply. My VM is so slow I'm having to figure out how to turn off that feature.  It can take 5 minutes for a single click to actually process.  The VM is completely unusable as it is.  I'm thinking about booting from the recovery partition and editing the registry from the CLI otherwise It'll be faster to just build a new VM.  Sadly, I didn't take a snapshot before making that change.  Lesson learned.

I realize I'm bumping an old topic but what I found is relevant just in case anyone else finds this post. What I found was that my wireless was causing the issue.  I had to disable broadcast filtering and proxy completely for DHCP to work properly.  The DHCP request was forwarded but the reply back got filtered.  It has to do with the actual host MAC being used for one thing and the VM MAC in the DHCP request. I've also read that if you have DHCP snooping on a wired network you'll have the same issue. I'm using Aruba Instant APs but I've found posts related to this from pretty much every vendor.

I have a MBP 16", 6-Core i7, 32GB RAM running Fusion 12.2.4 I have a Windows 11 VM that is an upgrade from a fresh installation of Windows 10. VM specs:  2 processors, 8GB RAM, 60GB NVMe disk, 2GB Video with the battery life setting as 'Use High Performance Graphics for 3D Applications only".  vTPM installed and the VM is encrypted (didn't use the "software TPM").  It running hardware version 19. The issue I started having is the VM has become so slow that it's unusable.  I log in and a click can take minutes to respond.  I was going to run the Optimization Tool on it but I can't even get a browser to open.  What strange is that when I first got Win 11 installed it ran fine.  I can't remember what, if anything, I changed. The only thing I adjusted was video RAM; I kicked it up to 4GB.  I've tried disabled 3D graphics but that just causes a black screen. Now I've got it set to 2GB and that runs a slight bit faster but still not enough to even launch an application. I did notice one thing.  Whenever it boots up, I get that "No 3d support is available from this host".  This is strange because I checked the MBP and it shows it's using the discrete video card.  Do I need to make any manual changes to the vmx file? Can someone suggest hardware settings that they've found work well with Windows 11?

I hope VMware gets the bugs worked out.  It's really disappointing to see how badly VMware had adapted to the changes made by Apple when they deployed Catalina.

I downgraded my installation from 12.2.1 to 12.2.0 and bridged networking is operating properly again.  Speed tests show proper speeds, browsers work and Microsoft activation worked. Apple has made lots of drastic changes to the way that MacOS runs in the last few versions so I get issues.  I just hope these problems get ironed out sooner rather than later. For now I won't be upgrading Fusion.
Just in case anyone else has this question. I downgraded from 12.2.1 to 12.2.0 just using the normal installer for 12.2.0.  That's it.

Hi Scott, First, this is a VM that I have used for years that started with the networkiing issues yesterday after upgrading to 12.2.1.  Sadly, I can't remember if I was running 12.2.0 or 12.1.2 prior to the upgrade.  I do know that the upgrade did not require VMware Tools be reinstalled so no version change there. Fusion version?  12.2.1 Host OS version?  MacOS 11.6.1 Guest OS version?  Windows 10 Pro 21H1 VM network configuration? Single adapter bridged mode Troubleshooting already performed?    1. Removed all network adapters, rebooted and re-added a single adapter.  Originally had 2.    2. Reinstalled VMware Tools    3. Ookla Speed test:  Guest:  3-5 Mbps down 11 Mbps up.  Host:  56Mbps down 9.5Mbps up.  My circuit is 60Mbps down and 10Mbps up.  I know speed tests are more "grain of salt" but I think this comparison shows there's an issue in the vmnet side of things.      4. Wireshark Captures:  Guest:  lost of TCP out of order, RSK,ACK, TCP ACKed unseen segment, TLS1.2 ignore unknown record.  These are all to IPs owned by Microsoft & Amazon AWS.  I've got captures but there rather big.    5. Tried creating a fresh Windows 10 guest from MS's latest ISO.  During the setup, it was unable to reach MS's Internet presence since I couldn't use my MS email address as my user account.   If you need more info let me know but I may not have 12.2.1 installed for long.  I'm going to downgrade Fusion to 12.2.0 or 12.1.2 to hopefully get this VM running again.  I've got a project with a tight deadline and I NEED to get Visio running again.  With the networking all wonky, my Windows installation is showing unregistered and so is my O365 installation!

Yesterday I upgraded VMware Fusion 12 to 12.2.1........and networking went to Hell.  I've read numerous posts about issues with no solutions.  I'm going to grade some packet captures to see what's up but I really need to get my VM working again ASAP.  I have a project with a tight time schedule and don't have time for in depth troubleshooting.  I've already troubleshot for a day with no definitive results except for really low download speeds and an inability to (fully) access many of the websites I need. Anyway, what I'm looking for is information on downgrading from Fusion 12.2.1 to either 12.2.0 or 12.1.2.  I can't remember what version I had before the upgrade.  What I do know is that VMware Tools did not require a reinstall.  I've searched the site and Internet and only find articles about downgrading VM hardware versions or rolling back from 12 to 11.  I just need to rollback to an earlier version of 12. Do I just install the older version of 12 over the top of 12.2.1? I have not changed any VM settings except to reinstall VMware Tools.  The VM is hardware version 16.

I tried these settings and they did not work.  Got an error when booting up. Found this link to enable OpenGL settings and this solved the issue. https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/343473/how-to-resolve-no-3d-support-is-available-from-the-host-error-in-vmware… In a nutshell, you put these settings in the Preference file; not in the vmx file. You can also add the setting: mks.gl.allowBlacklistedDrivers = "TRUE" to the vmx file as well. I made both these settings and the issue went away. I have a Seagate GoFlex 1TB USB external drive.  It's formatted NTFS. Computer is a Macbook Pro running Fusion 4.1.3.  The Guest OS is Windows 7 32-bit. When I purchased a Seagate GoFlex Pro 1.5TB drive it came with the Paragon NTFS drivers for OS X which allow read/write.  When I connect the 1TB GoFlex to my Mac, I have read/write access. Here's the issue.  When I connect the 1TB GoFlex and choose to have it connect to the Windows 7 VM, I get a message stating that it cannot read the drive and it needs to be reformatted.  What it seems to be doing is connecting, disconnecting, reconnecting over and over.  It also seems to be unable to read the filesystem.  I tried it with both GoFlex drives and have the same experience. As a work around, I connect the GoFlex to the Mac and then add it as a share.  The problem is that I have certain programs that keep dropping connectivity to it. Since it is hardware passthrough, I wouldn't think it would have an issue with the filesystem.  Am I wrong in my thinking? Anyone know if there is a workaround besides reformatting the drive to FAT32 or if this is something that will be dealt with in a later version of Fusion? Thank you for any help.
