Hi support/community, an old problem hit me again: I got new hardware (Windows 10 Host / HP Laptop / Synaptics SMBus Touchpad), and Two-Finger Scrolling fails to function in all my virtual machines (VMWare Workstation 15.0.1, several (all?) Windows versions). I use this feature often, and find it pretty annoying that it does not work. If I attach any mouse, the scroll-wheel works fine in both the host and the guest. VMware tools is installed, but didn't help. I saw posts complaining about VMWare Workstation having problems with two finger gestures on Synaptics Touchpads dating back till 2010, and I think there should be a solution by now. Any clues what I can do to get two-finger scrolling to work 2021? Thanks, Armin.

Hi all, I have tried to configure a multi-monitor VM on a single monitor like described in the docs, but I cannot get that feature to work as intended without manual intervention. I have two physical monitors with 2560x1440 resolution. On one of them I want a VM having two virtual monitors at 1280x720, and I have set the VM settings accordingly. Unfortunately this setting seems to be ignored, if I start the VM I do always get a 2560x1440 single monitor VM. I can then manually change the VM to full-screen and "cycle multiple monitors" until I have the VM on both my physical monitors, then open the display settings in the vm OS control panel and set both monitors to 1280x720, whereafter I do indeed have the display settings I need: without me setting the "cycle multiple monitors" setting to 1, the VM collapses to one physical monitor and does show 2 virtual 1280x720 monitors side by side. I have attached screenshots for clarification, also showing the display settings tab. The setting gets lost whenever I shut down and restart or suspend and wake the VM, and I have to go through the whole clumsy process every time I want to work with these settings. Any ideas why this is happening, and what I need to do so I get the desired settings permanent? Thx, Armin.

Hi Bonnie, sometimes it only takes someone ask the correct question They do, if I actually attach them. I was so occupied with the fact that HID device usually don't show up on the list of removable devices that, when I turned visibility on via the settiong mentioned above, I totally missed that I had phased out my cabled devices this summer and thus only wireless devices attached I plugged in a cabled USB keyboard now, and it does show on the list --> issue resolved, PEBCAC Thanks, Armin

Hi community, I know how to assign wireless USB HIDs like keyboards and mice to a specific VM by making use of the "Show all USB input devices" setting. Can the same be achieved for wired USB devices connected to the internal USB controllers of the computer mainboard, they don't seem to show up if I activate the setting mentioned above. I am on Windows 10 x64 and use latest VMware workstation 15 pro. Thx, Armin.

Hi all, I have an OS in a VM which works perfectly on my main machine. On my laptop, to be exact it is a "Mobile Workstation" with almost the same muscle as my desktop, the very same VM (copied over) does not boot, the OS hangs right at the beginning of the boot process (when the manfacturer logo is displayed). If I remove the USB device from the VM configuration, the OS boots, but I am stuck at the login screen, because the OS mouse and keyboard both seem to rely on the USB driver. I have already tried to change USB settings, e.g. from USB 3.0 to 2.0 or 1.1, but the effect persists. Is there anything else I can do, some additional settings somewhere to play with, so there is a chance I get the VM run on my laptop with the USB device active? Host OS on the Laptop is Windows 7 x64, on the Desktop it is Windows 10, VMWare Workstation ist V12.5.7 (latest, AFAIK). Thanks, Armin.

This is a very basic question, I know, but I haven't find a satisfactory answer, so maybe someone can clarify. The driver is installed in my host, and does hook into the standard keyboard driver chain. This does sound a little scary to me, knowing Microsoft's habit to change Windows internals at will and not caring too much wether competing products are broken or not. So if the driver doesn't do any good for me, I'd rather not install it. The docs do say, thet the driver does "somehow" do "something" good for foreign language keyboards. Well, I have a foreign language keyboard (German), in fact I have plenty of them (very basic ones as well as "Multimedia" keyboards with tons of special keys, mainly made by Microsoft and Logitech, but also other brands), and I have never noticed any difference between hosts with and without the Enhanced Keyboard Driver. This may be caused by the fact that I hardly ever use any "Enhanced" functionality inside a VM, but I notice that many special keys like volume controls, Windows key, Alt-Gr key work regardless of whether I install teh Enhanced Keboard driver or not. So can anybody clarify why I need this driver, and what kind of malfunction I will experience if I don't install it? Thx, Armin.

Hi all, I have a nagging problem with VMWare Workstation (latest Release 12.5.7 build-5813279). On one of my computers, if I fire up a VM, the mouse lacks scroll wheel support inside the VM. Scroll wheel support is OK in the host, seems like scroll wheel support somewhow doesn't "get through" to the Vms. Any ideas how I can track/fix this problem? Details: I am using two machines, a desktop computer (Windows 10 x64) for office and a Laptop (Windows 7 x64) for mobile work. The VM(s) needed reside on an external SSD drive, and I move the drive between the two computers as needed. When loaded by the laptop, there is no scrioll wheel support for the mouse in any of my VM(s), while the mouse buttons & mouse cursor work fine. When I start the same VM(s) on my desktop computer, scroll wheel support is allright. Further clue: one of my mice has side buttons. On the desktop, they work like intended, on the laptop they don't work. Conclusion: on teh laptop, the mouse does onle get some "basic" support in the VM, seems like "advaced" functions like scroll wheel and additional buttons are omitted. Normally I'd suspect a driver issue, but the mice I tried (one of them beeing a genuine Microsoft mouse) don't need any additional drivers than what's proviced in the base OS to work. Already tried: - installed the same and latest version of VMWare Workstation (12.5.7 build-5813279) on both machines, and installed the latest Version of VMware tools - tried different VMs (Window Server 2012, Windows 7), the problem seems to affect all VMs - tried different mice (USB, Bluetooth, built-in Touch pad) - all of them show the same problem - searched the forums and net for clues, but found none for up to date evrsions of VMware Any hint what I can do to track and resolve this problem? Thx, Armin.
