Hello, I couldn’t do the full upgrade because the VM is not allowed to be connected to the Internet. Thanks to your hint, I made the upgrade manually with the file “windows6.1-kb4474419-v3-x64_b5614c6cea5cb4e198717789633dca16308ef79c.msu”. After that, installation of VMWare tools worked on the Windows 2008 and Windows 7 worked. Thanks! Regards Christian

Hello, I am running the WMWare Wokstation 16.1.2 and I have an issue with the upgrade of VMWare Tools. The installation fails on a Windows 7 guest with "Setup failed to install the VMCI Virtual Machine Communication Interface driver automatically. This driver will have to installed manually.". I tried the advice in https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/74745 and installed the certificate but no luck. I can see that the certificate is expired and I tried to contact support but I can submit my support request with the error message “The selected Entitlement Account has no products associated with it. Try selecting a different Entitlement Account to see the products you are entitled to.“ The account has my license allocated to it… What should I do? Regards Christian

The file vmInventory.xml file is located in C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Administator\Anwendungsdaten\VMware. It's a German Windows. In an English Windows, that would be C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\VMWare I dont think it's a good idea to put the attached file in there. There is no Directory C:\ProgramData\VMWare\hostd Is the attached file from a WS 10 installation?

Hello, I have a shared VM (2008R2) running on a machine  with W2K3. The VM is shared and booted when the host does boot. No Problem here. I want, of course, that the VM is suspended when the host is shutting down. I found the information that this can be set up in vmAutoStart.xml. It should be in D:\Programme\VMWare\Workstation\hostd but there is no file at all. I did a search of the whole machine but couldn't find it. I could do it with VMRun and a script at shut-down, I know. But it's more safe if VMWare is doing the Job. Any idea? Cheers Christian
