Hello All, I have two desktop’s at my place for home lab. Let’s call them new-desktop and old-desktop Old-desktop boots from pen drive which has which ESXi 6 installed on it New-desktop has windows 7 as base OS. I am running VMware Workstation 12 and have configured my lab in it. On new-desktop in Workstation I have created a Widows 2003 DHCP machine/VM Old-desktop and new-desktop are connected to connected to Huawei router (this has been given to me by my ISP) old-desktop when it boots up always gets the IP (192.168.0.xx) from Huawei router instead of getting IP (10.1.1.xx) from DHCP windows server (running on new-desktop as a VM in Workstation) I would like my old-desktop to get DHCP IP from DHCP Server (windows 2003) running on new-desktop in Workstation 12 as a VM and not from Huawei router Please suggest what settings I need to change or view here Thanks in advance

hi All, On my desktop I have configured VMware ESX lab. This lab is running in VMware workstation 10. I would like to create different vlans like 51 - 52- 53 for my VM running in it and then test few things. Is it possible create actual vlans in workstation for esx lab ? This is what I want to do >>> create an AD vm in Vlan A create an ESX Server in Vlan B. Then create different vms in this ESX and run them on vlans C - D - E. Create Management and vmotion traffic on vlan F Thanks Vaibhav

Hi All, I have a home lab and I use it for everyday use. Here are the details Intel Motherboard with 16GB ram. Windows 7 OS and I use windows 7 as the base OS. I have installed VMware Workstation and run esxi 5 and other machines. With esxi 5 there is a new feature of using VMware's software FCoE adapter. However to use it you need to have a NIC that supports FCoE like Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X520. You need to install it on your desktop machine and then the VMware's software FCoE can be used. Has anyone used it till now and does it work fine. Thanks in advance
Thanks Karthick -- it worked !!!!

Hi all, I have VMware workstation and I am running windows server 2008 R2 as VM on it. I’ve installed Vsphere (ESX4) as VM also. I am not able to connect to ESX server via VI Client from windows machine. This is what I’ve checked so far – ESX server has been assigned a static IP address ESX (A) record is seen in DNS I am able to ping the ESX machine I am able to open the open initial web page for ESX server in a browser I am able to login to the ESX server from the ESX server console itself Both the machines are running on vmnet 0, I’ve tried them on host only // bridging but no go When I try connecting to the ESX via VI client, this is the error message that I get. Snap shot attached. Please guide on what I can try to get this fixed. Also I have edited the configuration vmx file and added the command monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = TRUE      but no go Thank you in advance, Vaibhav
