PDF Lab Manuals VMware Learning Platform now supports the PDF document format for student lab manuals. This feature enables content creators to use external authoring tools to develop lab manuals for use in VMware Learning Platform. In addition, it provides customers who have preexisting content an additional import option. Go to Lab Management > Lab Resources > Create Lab Resource. Detailed Billing The new billing dashboard provides granular usage metering of on-demand service usage. This dashboard enables Tenant Administrators to optimize usage of the service to help control cost. The new billing dashboard is available in the Tenant Management module > Billing. Lab Replication With replicas, a Tenant Administrator can easily and reliably replicate vApp Lab Templates within the same region or to other geographical regions throughout the cloud. This feature helps enable several key use cases including distributing templates for high availability, remote backups, and improving performance for students by providing labs in-region. Create User during Entitlement Creation This functionality introduces the ability to create a user during the entitlement creation process, without the need for the user to register for or create an account in VMware Learning Platform. This feature can be useful in one-time lab use situations, or to provide a quick hands-on demo without having the user go through the standard registration process. Class Self-Registration Instructors now have the capability to enable a class for student self-registration. This feature is advantageous in scenarios where an instructor may not have the student roster well in advance of a scheduled class. During class creation the instructor simply configures the number of seats the class is intended to support, and then provides their students with a self-registration URL. No account creation is required beforehand. Remember to keep a lookout for the new Admin User Interface if you aren’t already using it, as the old UI will be deprecated within the next few weeks! Hi, My issue with MyLearn login is resolved by VMware MyLearn Support team. Earlier I raised a ticket with them. They have merged all my accounts to my personal email address in MyLearn. Post which, I could login to MyLearn which did not redirect to partner portal and I could see my certifications. So, please raise a support tick with MyLearn support team to address this issue.

My requirement was the same. I needed to pay for an exam urgently. In the end I used Safari (I'm sure other browsers will work). I attempted to log into myLearn which forwarded me to the partner site. Here I logged in using my personal email address and navigated to the University or Education section (not 100% sure on the title). Here the page appears to fail to load but it's loading.  Give it 30-60 seconds and you will have a similar portal to myLearn. I hope this helps. If you still have issues I can send some screenshots over tomorrow on each step I took.

same behaviour here. mylearn account associated with private E-Mail address but forwarded to Partner connect. Login or password reset not working. I Used to have an salesforce account associated with my company E-Mail address. But  am not able to log in with my former salesforce credentials nor ca reset my password. My issue is different as I urgently need to reschedule an Exam. Certification case is still unresolved, E-Mail to partnercentral not even answered. Will keep you informed once I see any progress.

We are happy to introduce pdf manual support with VMware learning Platform. A manual in VLP can be created using screen-steps, Microsoft word import and a raw pdf. Steps to enable pdf manual: Upload a pdf to lab resources in tenant admin Select the pdf resource in the lab (Make sure there is no manual attached to lab) Start the lab and the pdf will be rendered within the manual itself.

It seems to be a known issue.  I have a ticket open with VMware for the same thing. I have a gmail.com account which is linked to my @work.com account (so they can use my VCP).  I assume you have the same thing?  This is causing my gmail.com address to be seen as a partner email address and I'm unable to log into mylearn.vmware.com.  Regardless of if you are a partner or not, we should still be allowed to log into mylearn. Once I hear back on my ticket I will update you here.

My mylearn account is Jonathan.jabez1@gmail.com Today I wrote my VCP 7 DTM Exam and passed. I tried to login to my account and it is telling my email address is identified as a VMware partner. This is my personal email address fro Gmail. I do have separate Partner login Jonathan.jeyasingh@hpe.com.vmw. But this login doesn't show my earlier certifications. I need help to login to my personal my learn account. Please help.

Hi, Thank you for the response, so in order to do what you recommend would i have to have another Veeam server running with Veeam installed Backup & Replication, on another network? As the whole point of this test is to prove we can launch one particular server in a disaster recovery IE the building isn't accessible. Therefore currently we back up the vbk file to the cloud then can download and extract that vbk file into file formats vbx and vmbk to input into a individual host running esxi. Cheers, Nick

Hi, you can do it with veeam during the Restore procedure. It makes more sense, because the IP address is inside the VM, if you do a simple restore, you have exactly one copy of your original VM. To change IP you should turn it on on a new network separate from the original one. Step 8. Specify Network Settings - Veeam Backup Guide for vSphere ARomeo

Hi All, Sorry if this is a stupid question but i am new to VMware. I am trying to run through a DR test situation, where i can boot up a VM server inside ESXi which is running on independent host, so i have our live hosts running a certain VM server which is being backed up to Veeam, i have downloaded the VBK file which i have then extracted into the VMX file / VMBK file etc. I have then imported these files into ESXi on the individual host when i try and boot the VM on this host its set up with the same IP address off the live host and then try's to battle for that IP obviously at this point I have killed the test VM, is there a way to change the IP off the test VM inside ESXi without having to boot the test VM? For the purposes of this test we have the individual host on the same network but off the domain....  obviously ideally we would have it off site on a different network but we do not have the facilities for this at the moment. Again if there is a better way to do this let me know as i am new to this, basically my end goal is to run the test VM along side the Live VM but obviously not the both to interfere with each other. Thank You

Is this in VLP, or your own independent setup?
Hi Peter and Mitu, Firstly, thank you for responding. I do appreciate your input and will definitely see how it can fit in my environment. John

Hi John,    you can mount ISO in an unpublished vApp Template from a Lab Builder UI, while building a vApp from scratch or a cloned vApp Template. There are two use cases when you can mount an ISO. 1. when you build a Template from scratch , install OS and configure the OS. 2. when user wants to install or Upgrade the existing vAp template . Thanks Mitu

VMware Learning Platform is a cutting edge application that uses some newer features that may not be supported by your browser. VLP gives an option to run a compatibility check when user starts the lab. This can be enabled by tenant administrators from Tenant Settings -> General options – “Auto run compatibility checker when user starts the lab”. If enabled, when a user starts a lab, the system prompts the user to choose whether to run a compatibility check. When run, the compatibility check shows and saves a report. Below parameters are verified when a Compatibility check is run by a user: Cookies are a basic feature of the web used on most web sites. This application uses cookies to keep you logged in and track your active session. This application works best when a web proxy is not used. Supported Browsers: FireFox 13+ Chrome 18+ Safari 6+ Internet Explorer 11 Microsoft Edge Supported Devices: Apple iPad Bandwidth:           The speed test will help us evaluate any potential performance issues you are having with VMware Learning Platform that may be related to network bottlenecks. The test will be run three           times, connecting to a different server each time. It first tests latency (network delay) and then speed (network bandwidth).           Recommended Scores            Latency - A good latency score would be less than 300 ms; the lower the better            Speed - A good speed score would be greater than 1.5Mb/s; the higher the better
