I have also learned that if you plan on hosting 2 or more games on the same server you will want to run a seperate nic for each VM, that you are running.

The Windows and Linux Server versions are freely avalible directly from EA at the following link: http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2/ The client software you have to buy, for BF2 get the deluxe edition it includes the special forces add on. You can play on any of my servers. In BF2 it is called "300c's Place" for the non-ranked server. This is one that is running on a VMware server platform, and has been tested to 16 players and the largest maps. For the rest of the games out there, just remember google is your friend. Have fun.
Thanks for checking it out again Krulleke. If you or anyone is interested in the other servers please post here. These are what I have running so far. Battle Field 2 and the Special Forces ... See more...

It appears that the only person so far to comment on this VM has had problems with the zip file. I used Winzip on Max compression. I have downloaded this zip and it appears to work on my machines. This is also where it was created so it will probably not deminstrate the same problems, another computer may have. If it does not work for you please post here and tell me what it is doing. I am currently unable to post a new zip file so you may also down load it from: With tools http://www.crd-dwc.com/download/vm/dsl_wtools_ver_03.zip (161 megs) Without tools http://www.crd-dwc.com/download/vm/cod2_server_ver.01.zip (73.1 megs) Sorry no bit torrent here. I want to say Thanks to those that have tried this. It means a lot.
What do the people think of this VM? Post your thoughts...
Is it OK now for you to tell us how many entries you received?
I posted my breakout already. Just waiting to see if it is disqualified. Mine was 200 megs, so far on the list it is the largest download I know of.
The countdown has ended...Now the waiting really begins!!!

I thought I would submit a note about the "Game Server Appliance" that I put together for the world. It does require that you own a copy of the Call of Duty 2 game. This may get it/me disqualified, however hopefully the judges will keep this thought in their minds before they do, "There are over 12 million game players in the United States alone." Simply boot it up, insert the DVD, type in a password & server name and then have a fully functional COD2 Server to play your games on. I have also got 4 other servers functional, I will be putting together different packages as interests develope. Thanks for letting me play. I hope everyone try's this app.
Just curious if all appliances will recieve the judges reviews? I would like to know what others think of my appliance, if I don't win of course.

I uploaded my entry a couple of days ago. The website still shows as unverified and that you have not recieved my fax. My VM is on the ftp site, but how do I verify that the fax was received by VMware? I do not want to missout because of a technicality. Thanks
Thanks, Michael.
Has anyone seen this email yet that is to tell us how to upload our VM's?
Has anyone seen the email for uploading/submitting VM's Yet? Thanks

Unfortunately, you can not download the server software, it is only distributed on a cd or dvd. Some Linux (non-GPL) binaries are downloaded when the VM is booted up the first time, with the user agreeing to the user agreement. I chose to do this project because there was so many copies of this software out there and how much of a pain it is to configure. I thought for sure the company would see it as free advertisement for there product. However, they did not see it my way, although forcefully polite, asked me not to include it. I won't include anything with a restrictive license... Thanks

A request for clarification: A VM that streamlines a commercial application, that the user must own. YES or NO???? The VM I have developed needs a commercial application in order to be used. (I did not think it through) I would supply a copy of the application if needed for testing, as long as I can get it back. In server mode it does not require a license, which is how the VM runs it. However, they(The Developer) are still laughing at my request to include the server files with this VM. I figure that this will this kill my chance at the prizes? If it does then I am going to try and sell copies. If that fails I will post it somewhere for download, I have several 100 hours into this and would like to see someone use it. My VM automates everything, boot it up put in the cd and boom your done. I have about 10 pages of web help in the VM, complete with pictures, faqs, possibility of future web updating and real help in trouble shooting. It has been beta tested by some close friends and some people that should not be allowed to own a computer with positive results. Thanks I think I am going to be sick...

Sorry for the slow reply, I did not realise anyone had responded to me. I have cleaned out all the tar files in the distro. Also all the temp files. The compression is winzip and these amounts are from the Windows Platform, on my Fedora 4, the tar file is a little smaller at 82 megs and then about the same at 202 with the tools. Thanks
