6.5 training, exam and resources
Hi,
If I took VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.5] - am I limited to take and pass the 6.5 Exam first? (No newer ones)
Any recommended resources that cover the VCP6.5-DCV exam syllabus very well?
Thanks

Hi @andvm
VMware Certification Tracks
You must get the latest version from newer version of VCP-DCV
VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization 2019 (VCP-DCV 2019)

The exams for VCP6.5-DCV were retired at the end of August.
The active/current VCP-DCV is based on vSphere 6.7: VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization 2019 (VCP-DCV 2019)

Thats very bad news, I cannot understand why I cannot sit for a 6.5 Exam considering it is probably still one of the mostly used version to-date. (At least there should be the option to choose between 6.5 and 6.7)
This means that if I still want to keep specialising on VMware I will need to take another training class even though 6.5 is still very relevant.
Thanks

Hi andvm
You can pass the 6.5 Foundations exam then take and pass the vSphere 6.7 exam and earn the VCP-DCV 2019 certification.

The only available vSphere Foundations exam is on 6.7, the 6.5 exams were all retired at the end of August. (screenshot taken from VCP-DCV 2019 page)

Until the end of August, VMware still offered the 6.0 and 6.5 exams.
The retirement of those exams was announced in April.

Missed announcements as was busy with other projects.
Basically the 6.5 course I took is already outdated and not recognised for any exam path!....this is what I do not agree with, 6.5 is still very relevant and in my opinion it could be at least be accepted criteria for the VCP-DCV 2019
Thanks

6.5 was GA towards the end of 2016, and 6.7 in early 2018 - it makes sense to me that someone getting their VCP in late-2019 wouldn‘t be able to do that with 6.5 exams.

To me it does not make sense to render a 6.5 course unusable in terms of certs as it is still very much in use.
Anyways just my opinion at this point
