Hello,
This year I inherited the VMware UEM environment from my predecessor and now I am tasked with replacing the current normal.dotm with a new version.
I tried to understand how UEM works, but cannot find how to replace the current normal.dotm that is being distributed.
What does not help is that I found no configuration documentation.
I did find a zip file that contain the word template settings and the normal.dotm file is in that zip file.
Can I just replace the normal.dotm in that zip file with a new version, or is there an better way to accomplish this?
Regards,
Peter

With the UEM Management Console you can change and update the UEM configuration.
Pushing a new file can be done at logon as a global settings, through the 'User Environment - Files and Folders' option.
Or it can be done at application startup if you link the file as a pre-defined setting to a application 'Personalization - Config File'.
In both cases the file will be compressed into a ZIP file, so it's correct that you found it there.
Be careful though, updating and changing the ZIP files can only be done through the UEM Management Console with the 'Edit' buttons. If you change the ZIP file with another tool the ZIP file will become unreadable for the UEM agent.
Let me know if you need more info.

Hi Pim,
Thanks for the help.
I managed to replace the normal.dot.
I ended up making a new config file with the updated normal.dot files and disabling the one that was currently in use so I could roll back in case it would not work.
Predefined settings with direct flex enabled now replaces the normal.dot at application startup.
Best regards,
Peter

Be aware that each Config File represents a part of the user profile. If you disable a Config File, that profile portion will not be loaded anymore.
If you disable the 'Office Word' Config File for instance, users could lose their personal settings for Word. If you just want to push an updated file, you can probably do it better through the 'User Environment - Files and Folders' option.
