VMware Workstation 17.0 Pro - VPN Network Not Working

Good Evening,

So this has been an issue ever since I initially installed VMware, regardless of the OS of the VM I use (Ubuntu / Kali). When I fire up my host machine, I immediately run Express VPN on my system. I then run VMware workstation Pro and boot up the VM. Every time it runs, the network for my VM does not work. While the VM is turned on, I will have to turn off my VPN, and turn it back on for the network to I presume "reset" before it is active on the VM (I've checked and verified it is using the VPN IP).

However sometimes in the past and currently, the network on the VM will work momentarily after that little fix before going offline again. I've attempted to modify the VM's Network adapter through VMwares settings by changing it from NAT to bridged but then it won't work at all. Any information on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
