CentOS Stream 9 Hangs at GRUB menu on VMware Workstation Pro 17.2
Hello,
New Install. CentOS Stream 9 Hangs at GRUB menu on VMware Workstation Pro 17.2.
During bootup the grub menu is stuck for about 5 minutes, then CentOS Stream 9 boots quickly.
After bootup and logging in when typing commands the text input/output is very slow and laggy.
Using Windows 11, Samsung NVME disk.
Attaching screenshot from the console which has vmwgfx errors
Any suggestions?

Intel 12th gen (Alder Lake CPU)?
If so, try shutting down Workstation and disabling the power throttling setting for the vmware-vmx.exe application:
powercfg /powerthrottling disable /path "C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\x64\vmware-vmx.exe"

Two other things that I can suggest:
Lower the virtual machine’s hardware compatibility to Workstation 16 or 15 and see if any changes.
Disable Hyper-V so that the VM runs under the VMware hypervisor.

In windows features I already had Hyper-V unchecked. How do I make sure that VM runs under the VMware hypervisor?
Do I need to check mark next to Windows Hypervisor Platform and Virtual Machine Platform in Windows Features?
I tried by creating VM with hardware version 16.2, 16, and it did not help.
When trying to create VM with hardware version 15 and below, it says CentOS Stream 9 is not compatible.

Same issue with host Windows Enterprise 10.0.19045.3208, guest Ubuntu 23.04 on VMWare Workstation Pro 16.2.5, Alder Lake-P CPU.
Running the powercfg command didn't help, and Hyper-V is not installed.
