I have the same problem with Workstation Pro 16.2.3, running on a Linux (RHEL 8.5)
Network adapter, the sound card, and the CD/ISO image icons don't change regardless of connection status, they always show that they are disconnected.
But I found that this problem appears only when the "Accelerate 3D graphics" option is enabled in the display settings of the virtual machine, if this option is disabled, then the icons work correctly.
I have "GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER" graphics card and NVIDIA native Linux driver. Looks like it's a bug in the software
