I couldn’t do the full upgrade because the VM is not allowed to be connected to the Internet.

Thanks to your hint, I made the upgrade manually with the file “windows6.1-kb4474419-v3-x64_b5614c6cea5cb4e198717789633dca16308ef79c.msu”.

After that, installation of VMWare tools worked on the Windows 2008 and Windows 7 worked.
