Player 12 is VERY old!  Definitely not supported on the newest Windows 11 host OS.  The only reason to use a version that old is if your CPU doesn't support the newer (14+) versions.  But since you said "new laptop" I'm fairly certain that isn't an issue for you here.  Try the latest Workstation Player (16.2+).
