I now get the error even when everything in Nvidia control panel ist set to default ....
Quite sure it worked before the update to 17.0.2 build-21581411 ....

Thanks andy you're an absolute legend. Turning off the limit background application FPS limit also fixed it for me.

Did anyone report this to Vmware support directly?
This is still an issue with Vmware 17 latest builds. Setting max frame rate will still crash VMs.

Found 1 good way to fix this for nvidia:
1) Open nv contol panel.
2) For 3d params, for programms add new programm - "...\VmWare_Workstations\x64\vmware-vmx.exe"
3) Disable both max fps caps for this programm.
Now all will be working ok.

Is anyone seeing this fix working still on the latest Windows 11 and nvidia driver updates? It is not longer working for me.
