Guest disconnects immediately when I try to access my microphone
I am having trouble using my microphone in my Virtual Machine, since this Monday. Probably some update broke it, but I am not sure if it from guest side (Windows 10 Pro 64bit 10.0.19042.1766) or my host (Manjaro 64bit 5.10.131-1, KDE Plasma 5.24.6, X11), using VMWare Horizon 2206 Build 8.6.0).
I originally noticed the issue, trying to join a Skype meeting, using my computer audio (instead of calling my mobile).
Then, same thing happens, while trying to use Webex (Cisco meetings platform)
And while trying to figure out the problem, if I try to access Control Panel > Sounds > Recording devices, immediately disconnects, like main window closes.
Under Settings (on my VM) there are 2 options for "Realtime audio-video", "Sound Blaster GC7 Digital Stereo (IEC958)" and "Monitor of Sound Blaster GC7 Digital Stereo (IEC958)". Tried both, same issue.
This was working few days ago, if I recollect, last time it worked was on Friday.
My employer does not provide support for Linux hosts, and I am not willing to use Windows just to connect there.
Can you please advise?

Since the session windows closed maybe a crash happened. Have you checked if there was any core dump file on your system?
Have you changed Horizon Linux client build since last time of working? Any mic device change? Linux system update?

Hi ofox
Thank you for taking time to reply.
No, there wasn't any crash on guest side, as I was able to reconnect few minutes later, and my apps were in the state before the disconnection. However, I couldn't reconnect immediately, I had to try 3-4 times.
Since it was very annoying, I did a full re-installation on my host I don't have that behavior anymore.
But...
What happens is that now I don't have a mic and cannot join Skype/Teams/Webex meetings. I have to join by phone.
Any ideas how to solve this? There are some plugins available in AUR repo, but not sure which one is the correct, if any.

It most looks like crash happen in your Linux system, maybe check if there is any crash dump in your Linux host
And by your description, if there is no microphone in your Linux host, then everything is OK even though you open "Sound"->"Recording", but no device can be used, and if there is microphone in your Linux host, then session exit when open "Sound"->"Recording"?

Thank you for your answer.
My Linux host works fine. I have two microphones, one connected to the onboard card and a second on an external usb SoundBlaster.
Inside the VM, I can only see the USB as input device, but it does not work. No crashes anymore, as I wrote above, I did a re-installation of host. However I have no sound either.
I tried to use the onboard mic, but I cannot find any options/setting to use that, I get only one option, the usb, which it doesn't work.
