Oldest Horizon client version that still works on 8

Hello,

I'm developing Horizon 8 2212 and unfortunately, we still have some old thin clients out there. What is the oldest Horizon client version that will still connect to a Horizon 8 environment? I'm not concerned about features like Teams optimization - I was just hoping to get some idea of where the cutoff line is while we try to update our hardware. Thank you!

@mattpack1

Check the interoperability matrix to get the "supported" versions: Product Interoperability Matrix (vmware.com)

That does not mean it won't work with any other version, but you will have to test it for yourself I'm afraid. In my experience, basic connectivity will still work, it's the advanced/new features that might give some errors or not work at all, but if you don't need them, then you can just keep using your older clients.

One thing that can be important is the supported CIPHER suites for encryption.

Might be a bit late of a reply for you, but we have been able to run 5.4.2 (oldest we had in the environment) and up working with Horizon 2206.

I appreciate the response! That lines up with what we were seeing as well. For anyone else stumbling across this in the next few months, the oldest client we tested was 4.10 and that connected fine and the VDI was usable. Teams ran unoptimized but it launched and we were able to screenshare. The give/take control feature did not work, which was expected.
