INStant Clones and this IcMaint.cmd command .

Hi ,

So according th this KB : " VMware Knowledge Base  " … if im using Horizon 7.1 and over i DONT need to run this to put a host in Maint mode ?

That sound correct ?... so if im on 7.6 Horizon.. i just put the ESXi host in maint mode as normal and it removes the ' Parent VM's ' dedicated to that host ?

I would only really use it if i was running VUM and doing updates ?..

thanks .

I'm on 7.4 and it works for me, I have never had to run that command, we started on 7.4 after 6. You put them in maintenance mode, the parents get deleted, and the running clones are vmotioned to another host. When you take the host out of vmotion the parents get created again automatically.

This needed to be run in versions 7.0, 7.1, and 7.2 (i believe) in order to properly put the hosts in maintenance mode.

I am currently running 7.5.0 and simple maintenance mode removes the parents on that host.

There's also the nifty "IcUnprotect" command that allows you to remove them manually. Careful with that one though.
