I have a vsphere cluster that is hosting vmware view 4.5 vm's. I need to do some maintenance on the hosts in this cluster. How do I move the replica vm from the host that I need to do maintenance on. I cannot recreate the pool of vms because they are for admins who are on them nearly 24x7.
from what I have seen in this article http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1008704&sl...
if I unprotect the replica the linked clones will not function anymore.
If I put the host in maintenance mode will virtual center move the replica vm to another host?
Thank you,
CShenberger

Maintenance mode should move everything for you. Just make sure you check the option to move powered off items.

Yes replica vms will be evacuated to other ESX host during its entrance to maintanance mode. No need of any manual configuration of replica VM to unlock for the same. As mittim told you have to check the option to evacuvate powered off VMs

Thank you for the Answers.
Maintenance mode evacuated the replica.
