View 6.0.2 to 6.1 Upgrade

Hello,

I'm going round in circles with this upgrade for testing purposes.

I have 2 servers:

1 with composer and standard server

1 security server

I believe the process is to remove composer and install the newer 6.1 build. If I do this I get an error that "Unable to install because View Server is installed on this server"

If I remove View server, composer will install, but when it comes to installing the Server, I get a similar message "Unable to install because View Composer is installed on this server"

Can the two live together in 6.1 (Connection Server and Composer)?

What is the correct process to upgrade.

Running vSphere 5.5

Thanks

Composer is not supported on a connection server. Use a standalone server or install composer on the vCenter server.

I agree with Sven about pulling off that composer instance and placing it either on a stand alone or combined with vCenter.     They are both supported and common deployment methods.     As far as order I think you are ok with upgrade connection brokers, security server, composer, and then agents on the virtual machines.

Did you make sure your vCenter version  was supported for View 6.1 version?

I suspect the upgrade process is similar to the 5.3 to 6 process:

- Composer

- Connection servers

- Security servers

- upgrade group policies

- vCenter (if needed)

- ESXi hosts (if needed)

- View agent

- View client
