Connect to Desktop source with the View Client?

All,

I am currently in a POC of VMware View and would like to know if it is possible to connect to the portal and then to a desktop source without the need to install the View client software. Is this possible? If so, how?

If not, then can the a properly authenticated domain user login to a local guest or user privileged account and install the view client software? Or does the domain user need to be logged into a local administrator account in order to download the view client software? I have tested this and I experienced that the only way I was able to download the view client software and succesfully connect to a desktop source was if I logged in as a local administrator.

I know that with Citrix (sorry to mention that name here), I was able to download the client while being logged into the machine with local guest account. Their client had a very small footprint.

Your help please. Thanks.

You can use the web portal and the "web client".

To access View Portal you need a specific ActiveX.

See page 21 of http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view31_manual.pdf

Thanks. I know that I can use the web portal and view client. However, is there a way to use the web portal only without the need to install the view client? I am running into the issue where I have to be logged in with a local admin account in order to download the view client after connecting to the web portal. For example, I want to make it possible for a user who is logged into a public computer to be able to log into the web portal and connect to a desktop source. More often than not, the local account will be a guest or restricted user account; therefore, he will not be able to download the view client after authenticating to the web portal.
