Windows 10 will only install with floppy drive disconnected
I've got a mid 2015's iMac (3,3 GHz Intel Core i5) with a AMD Radeon R9 M290 2048 MB running MacOS 10.12.3. I installed VMware Fusion Version 8.5.3 without any trouble.
Then I tried to install Windows 10, but I kept getting the message "No images available" in the first screen of the setup wizard. At first I thought the image was corrupted, but it still wouldn't work after several downloads. Then, by accident, I found out that the setup will continue just fine if I disconnect the floppy drive (even though it tells you explicitly not to).
That at least means the iso image is not corrupted, but I seem to run into a host of other problems after the installation has finished.
The main problem is the same as this problem OpenGL Version 3.x? , with the exact same software (Delftship). It says it needs OpenGL v3.x and says I have OpenGL v1.1.
There are a couple of tips in the mentioned discussion, three of which I have questions about:
- Hardware: Intel: HD4000 or newer Nvidia: 650M or newer AMD: HD 5770 or newer: the AMD Radeon should be fine as well, no?
- Virtual Hardware set to version 12: I'm not sure what this means? Is this a setting somewhere? I'm probably looking in alle the wrong places...
- VMware Tools updated to the latest: I can't even install VMware tools. The option is greyed out in the menu.
Or is the problem with OpenGL a result of the installation without the floppy drive? In which case, how do I get around the no images available?
I'm new to all this and I basically bought Fusion 8 to run Delftship and nothing else, so I probably might need a little more hand-holding than most here.
