Short answer:  There is no 3d acceleration in MacOS guests by default, and later versions definitely use 3d rendering.  Some folks have successfully enabled 3d acceleration for older versions, but it is known to not work on Sonoma.

Support for MacOS VMWare tools has been depreciated, so it's unlikely that any issues will be addressed.
