Quicken is frozen
Hello-
Several days ago I signed opened VMWare through my iMac and said to myself - how wonderful VMWare has worked over the decades with no glitches! Don't do that. My Quicken is now frozen. It has taken over the whole screen. I can access various Microsoft sites but Quicken sits there doing nothing but taking up space. I need it! How can I unfreeze Quicken? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Is this Quicken the application or Quicken on the web?
What is the operating system you’re running in the virtual machine?

It's Quicken the app. Quicken Home & Business, 2020 version. And I'm running Microsoft Windows 10 in the VM on my iMac. Thank you for any help you can give me!

Have you tried troubleshooting this as if it were running on a physical machine? For example. what is the Windows Task Manager or any error logging saying about what is happening in the VM when this freeze occurs?
Can you switch to another window in the VM when this freeze happens?
Please tell me you are not using Fusion's Unity feature. If you are, turn it off and see if the issue persists. (Personal disclaimer: IMO Unity is an abomination of a feature).
Did anything update in either your Mac or the Windows VM between when you last ran Quicken and the time you are seeing the freeze.
Have you checked with the Quicken community about instances of Quicken hanging on startup?

Thank you, Techno -
I believe I misled you before. The Quicken is an actual program on my computer that I access through VMWare. I'm able to access various Microsoft features but not the usual home page. I don't believe I have Unity since the only reason I use VM is for Quicken.
And I shall check with the Quicken community to check if they've had this same problem. The usual knowledge base didn't help.
Thank you so much! Wish me luck!

You have unity installed if you don't see the microsoft windows home screen, and are probably using application shortcuts. Turn it off and launch the VM from the fusion app library window. then you can determine if it's fusion hanging or quicken.
One note: If this is so you can run a really old version of quicken, then once you move to an Mx (ARM/apple silicon) mac, it may not work properly (and you'd have to use Windows 11 ARM and the microsoft 'rosetta' like feature). If so, you'll have to upgrade to the latest quicken for windows.
That's similar to one of my test cases this fall - TurboTax doesn't sell a mac version of their small business edition, so I have to test and see if it'll work under Win11 ARM (it does on Win 10 Intel). Fingers crossed!
