Hi LucD,

As discussed in the previous post I have used a complex password and tried \ and @ and get the attached error.

Please advice.

Many Thanks

Is that ESXi node joined to the AD domain?

PS: were your questions in the other thread answered/solved?

Hi LucD,

Yep, previous post is all correct and answered.

All hosts are added to the domain and added to the vcenter using FQDN.

I mean is the ESXi node joined to the domain?
When you open the Host Web interface, does Manage - Security & Users - Authentication show that Active Directory is enabled?

HI LucD,

Yep, see attached. I have erased names of domains for security purposes.

Ok, now try to add the new user via that Host Web client (same account syntax and password).
Does that work?

Hi LucD,

I have tried manually and I get the error 'Invalid characters found in user name. Please use only alpha-numeric characters.'

I assume you tried with an account in the format 'domain/user', seems that is not allowed as a local account on the ESXi node.

Not sure why you would want to do that.
For Permissions you can use such an account, but not for a local account on the ESXi node.
