Can I install VMware vCenter Server Appliance 8 over ESXi 7 ?
I have installed vCenter Server Appliance 8 (vcsa) over ESXi7 and unable to move beyond Stage 1 : RPM installation in the vCenter appliance browser site as shown in the below picture.
Whether the vcsa v 8.0.0a work on the ESXi 7 ? or should I install latest version of ESXi to resolve this issue ?
I am using the trail version of vcsa thus I could get only the latest version that us 8, is there anyway I could download latest free verison of vcsa lower version such as vcsa 7 or vcsa 6.5 ?
Thank you in advance

vCenter Server 8 can manage hosts running ESXi 7, so I expect you should be able to deploy the appliance to an older host.
I have reported your post to the moderators, asking them to move it to the area for vCenter Server, since this isn't a Fusion question.

it is good practice to update vcenter first and then esxi. which suggests that there is backward compatibility in vcenter for esxi hosts. so your situation seems completely valid. it is better to have vcenter a step more updated than the other way around

Yes, you can install VCSA 8 over ESXi 7. Please see the system requirement for VCSA 8 in the below mentioned document:
