We currently have two sites, one is our headquarters and the other is our remote data center. I have a VC managing ESX 3.5 servers at our remote data center. I also have a stand-alone ESX located at HQ. I have enough licenses where I can have the ESX located at HQ to be managed by our VC at the data center. I don't plan to do any vMotion or DRS on the HQ ESX, because I plan to create a new Datacenter in VC to manage this single ESX host. My goal is to just use VC Update Manager on this single ESX host located at HQ and use a centralized license server for all ESX hosts.
Does anyone see any problem with this? Or, should I just build a VC at our headquarters and have that VC manage this single ESX host. (I don't want to use ESXupdate.) I don't foresee that we will be having a 2nd ESX host at our HQ. It only has a domain controller for local authentication, print server, and our antivirus server.
Thanks for help and I appreciate any feedback.
