Does vCenter Converter Standalone allow for commercial free use?

Does it require a license? I didn't find clear information in the documentation.

I don't think there's ever been a paid version, so yes.

Support is per incident if you need it.

Thanks for the reply, I'm wondering if there is any official documentation or page about this?

For example, workstations player has posted on the product info page that commercial free use is not allowed.

Player runs VMs, Converter only creates VMs that run on other products (which may or may not require a paid-for license depending on the product and usage)

It looks like it's free.

I want to use it in my workplace, but my company requires that free software should have official documentation or page to clarify that it's allowed for commercial use, in order to avoid unnecessary legal risks.

So, I would like to know if there is any official documentation or page about it? Thanks

There used to be an Enterprise version which had a license but that version disappeared some time ago.

The Standalone version has never needed a license as far as I am aware, and you cannot buy a license for it.

Hello,

Converter Standalone is free as in free beer, but it is not free software (as in free speech). It has an EULA that you can see when starting the installer. You can check any details you need there.
Yes, it is allowed for commercial use; in fact the majority of customers that use it are for profit companies.

HTH,

Plamen
