Failed to Connect ISO to Remote VM

This is failing with 2 different VMs. Both are Ubuntu 20 VMs on XCP-ng. I have disabled SSL using the converter-worker.xml and disabled ufw on the VM. I have manually assigned the helper IP address which should work (tested on another VM and it has network connectivity with that IP)

I am currently converting a Windows server running on the same XCP-ng server which seems to be working.

Thanks for any help

I'm having this exact same issue, same configuration, same VMs, same everything... did you ever find a solution?

Hello,

It may be a network configuration issue. Starting with ESXi 8.0, connecting the helper ISO uses HTTPS and requires Converter server to access port 443 on the ESX host, instead of port 902 as it is for earlier versions; see https://docs.vmware.com/en/vCenter-Converter-Standalone/6.4/vcenter-converter/GUID-4814B6B2-12A4-4E6...

However, keep in mind that Ubuntu 20 is not supported by Converter 6.4. Even if the cloning succeeds, the reconfiguration will fail and the converted VM won't be able to boot. You may need to manually install GRUB, create the initramfs image, create an EFI boot entry, patch fstab and network files, etc.

Regards,

Plamen

Hi everyone,

I was able to convert the virtual machine with starwind, it only failed with the network. Changes in netplan are required
