Upload error on Vcenter 6.7

Hi all.

We unexpectedly encountered the following error while trying to upload files via web vSphere Client to our datastores connected to vCenter 6.7:

"The operation failed for an undetermined reason. Typically this problem occurs due to certificates that the browser does not trust..."

The solutions described in the article "The operation failed for an undetermined reason" transferring files through vSphere Client (2147256... haven't helped us.

Also while we're trying to connect to our vCenter via VMware workstation we got the list of VMs but can't connect to the each of them: got error "Adress unresolved".

We don't know what past activities could be a reason for such changes, because it worked earlier.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Please let me know the exact steps that you are followed to import the certificate. ( I know that you are followed https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2147256. but need to know the process you followed)

Hi,

We saved zip folder from 'Download trusted root CA certificates', unpacked it, clicked on .crt file in win folder, began to install it, where we've chosen the local pc and then chose the trusted root certification authorities. That's it.

Hi,

Can you please reinstall certificate again & use the option "Automatically Select the certificate store based on the type of certificate" rather than manually select it. (please use the Mozilla Firefox)

The issue can as well be related to the ESXi hosts' certificates.
What may work is to connect to each of them and trust their certificates.

As a workaround, you can also connect to one of the ESXi hosts to upload files to a datastore.

Hi

Andre, thanks for your response!

Would you please share some guides how to properly receive/change/re-generete ESXi certificate?

Thanks in advance.

The easiest way is to open each ESXi host's web client in your browser, and trust the certificates.

However, depending on your requirements, you could also replace the default certificates. For details see e.g. Certificate Management for ESXi Hosts
