VMware App Volumes 4 Update 1
An update to App Volumes 4 has just been released to resolve a few critical issues:
- Chrome fails with the "Aw,Snap!" error occurs due to compatibility issues with Chrome version 78 and later. [2478183]
- Silent installation or upgrade of App Volumes Agent requires the EnforceSSLCertificateValidation parameter be set to 0 or 1. [2488638]
- In some cases, the login process spans a few minutes until the user is able to utilize the desktop. [2506815]
See the VMware App Volumes 4 Update 1 Release Notes for details.

Are we able to upgrade directly to this version from 2.18 or do we need to first upgrade to 4.0 then to 4.0 update 1?

Hi, john_f2004 .
Unless otherwise specified, App Volumes updates such as Update 1 can be treated as a replacement for its previous release. App Volumes administrators can now disregard App Volumes 4 (4.0.0) as App Volumes 4 Update 1 (4.0.1) is now generally available and replaces its predecessor.
Hope this helps provide some clarity to you and others.
Thank you for asking.

I get the Chrome "Aww Snap" errors on App Volumes 2.18. Can I upgrade to version 4 on Horizon 7.10? Also, is it backwards compatible with the 2.18 agents, or will I need to upgrade all the agents immediately?

According to the interop matrix, App Volumes 4.0.1 is compatible back to Horizon 7.10.0: VMware Product Interoperability Matrices
You can use the 2.18 agent with a 4 manager, but there are some considerations. Check out the App Volumes 4 Installation and Upgrade Considerations guide and check out the section on coexistence.
