vDS migration to vSS (rollback)

Hello,

After setting up LACP on our physical switches with active-passive configuration, is there any chance to transfer vDS management to vSS without breaking the connection? The vStandard switch has been preconfigured for with the same vlan/policy etc, but due to the a/p configuration, vcenter is doing rollbacks. Any idea how to deal with migration? I tried to restore network configuration directly from ESXI, create a new standard switch and assign it port groups + remove host from vds, migration through the vDS.

Hello @IMTBG,

You could do the following:

  1. Shutdown one port from the LACP
  2. Remove that port from the LACP
  3. Create a VSS and add that port
  4. Enable the port back
  5. Migrate the Management VMkernel to the VSS
  6. Migrate the VMs to the VSS after portgroup creations
  7. Shutdown remaining port
  8. Remove from LACP
  9. Add that NIC into the VSS
  10. Enable the port back.
